We often talk about “holy Grail models”...this is one of mine...Christian Gouel is still making Kits, just no longer 1/24...he also made a Lotus from 1965 and Ferrari from 1964... 6E4715AF-DE04-4FA7-80AD-7E3A4D41F0CD by Tim Jones, on Flickr A lot of parts... 16BB5C6C-6275-418A-A3B2-C0E45D72A193 by Tim Jones, on Flickr Comes with resin, white metal, photo etch, spark plug and fuel injection lines, several screws(!?)... annnnd the kitchen sink! 824B1A1C-2A45-4002-BCBE-7001C2185780 by Tim Jones, on Flickr Engine mock up with “waterfall exhaust” 511F5321-F526-4405-99A2-4432515A4826 by Tim Jones, on Flickr This is gonna be wild... That’s the Graham Hill 1966 winner!...Oh well...This Cars holds the distinction of winning it’s first ever Grand Prix (at Monza in 1967) and only leading the last lap...it never won again... I just finished my first Jaunjo Mas resin car...so onto a tour of Resin Casters... Wow, I've never heard of this before. This is an awesome kit. Glad you got this. I just found his site at cg-models.com/welcome.html . All '43, '32 now and museum quality '5, and '8 engines! Your list of resin just doesn't get any better! Sandy

Beautiful kit. That would have taken a huge investment with all those multimedia parts

If I can dare, looking at the photos of the built model, it seems to me that the tires are a bit too wide for 1967, especially the front tires...

If I can dare, looking at the photos of the built model, it seems to me that the tires are a bit too wide for 1967, especially the front tires... Bevita: Good eye! I had noticed a few things which I don’t understand...the tires (particularly the front) too wide? No extra space between the 3rd and 4th intake trumpets? I don’t like to critique resin kit builders, as it is much more difficult than it looks...I’m guessing that Mr Gouel didn’t have many detailed photos when this was being birthed...this kit has got to date somewhere right after the turn of the century, so it is 15-20 years old(?)...the kit finishes with a long screw in the middle of the red circle decal to attach the nose (?)...I have been debating whether to build OOB, or modify some things... Any ideas on proper tires and where to get them would be appreciated...at Indy, I talked to Kevin, Walt, and Lance about using 67-68 Indy tires on an upcoming 1968 Spa winning McLaren MA 7 Heller kit...we couldn’t’t really decide... Tim, i think that for an experienced modeler it's almost impossible to build even a MFH kit OOB... Regarding tires, in 1/24 it's a nightmare, 'cause there's almost nothing in this scale in the aftermarket... maybe a set of tires from Ferrari P4 or Ford GT 40 Fujimi kits may work.... obviously, you'll have to tighten the rims...

Lucky Dog this is in fact rare I got the Ferrari kit but the Honda sold out before I pulled the trigger on that purchase these were in fact the first detailed 1/24th resin GP kits but I found that the resin is soft and I may have to replace the nose/cockpit body work which I'll do - very glad I've got the kit despite this criticism how is the resin in your kit

Much better, Tim... but they seem to me to have still a "round '70s" look... can you compare them with Fujimi GT40 MKII ones?
where these tires come from?

This looks so good! I have a fiberglass slot car body of the car and have scratch-bashed the engine so far. NO detail except for a couple of section lines. I'm interested to see How you proceed with the build. One point, the rivet detail on your body seems gigantic! Patrick

Gentlemen: Be careful what you wish for,,, This Holy Grail has taken a turn for the worse...First: tires... The real car at speed...note the tires and exhaust... 653C25B9-C9DB-4AF4-97E5-E1E38AC17820 by Tim Jones, on Flickr With Ford GT tires... 6F76194A-D466-4D4D-BBEC-648650C0174D by Tim Jones, on Flickr The kit “built photo”... 68799A16-9ED1-4215-AD68-BD0719AD4091 by Tim Jones, on Flickr Tires waaaaaaaay off and exhaust: almost flat...so I am scratch building the exhaust(!) Bevita: What do you think? I checked out your Brabham BT 24 and the tires appear correct. Can you check to see the difference between the SE Finecast and Revell Ford GT? I am also interested in correct tires for my ‘68 McLaren M 7A... Any comments, thoughts, inspiration, are welcome! Tim

Hi Tim... thank you for asking my opinion, I fear you give me too much credit... Anyway, I've built two GT40s, one is a Targa Florio version and it's exposed in Targa Miseum in Collesano.... the other one is the Le Mans '66 2nd place (and moral victor)... I've built it 27 years ago (as you can see from the yellowed decals) the GT40 tires and the Brabham tires are quite similar... I still believe that these are the best (or the least bad) tires for your Honda... but maybe someone has a better idea....

However, I'm really surprised that a great modeler like Christian Gouel made such a mistake with the tires' width...

The Brabham.... Oh my....the GT40 has also remarkably aged well. Signs of a great build. But that Brabham just grabs you... Thanks for posting. Nice cars.

Bevital's tires look pretty good. Perhaps another source for tires might be a Testors Famous Fords series kit, either the Lotus 38 or the GT40? Or the equivalent IMC kit?

Juanjo: I’m going with the Revell Ford GT MKII tires. They are very close. Bevital’s Brabham tires look similar but slightly thinner in the rear...currently working on the exhaust... Thanks! Tim

Guys: What are your experiences with old resin kits? This one is whipping my as*...in thin places it can be very brittle; in thick places it is like concrete...since this kit is mainly built with screws, it is Really hard!...I’ve stuck drill bits in my fingers and thumb about a half a dozen times...do screws holes have to be drilled the full length of the screw?...I go about 3/4 of the way, but they won’t bite into the resin(!?)...any help would be greatly appreciated! Also, for the resin casters: have you ever seen diecast chromed? They are bendable but brittle?!?...the radius rods, roll bar, and many suspension pieces are done this way...the problem that creates is the pieces then become too thick to fit into the available holes?!? ... So far I have completely changed the tires, exhaust, and sanded off the way too big rivets...Argahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Tim

I would drill, and tap for the screws, Tim. You can buy almost any size machine screw. For the cast metal, I would clean it up, prime with etch primer, and use the chrome paint. Just my $.02.
