I finished another build today, the other being Emerson Fittipaldi’s 1989 Indianapolis 500-winning Penske PC-18. The story is well-known, Emerson Fittipaldi and Al Unser, Jr. both went for the win. The two ended up touching and Unser Jr. ended up in the fence. Fittipaldi continued on and won the race. I built this car using the Penske PC-17 and Calvin Sallee’s brilliant conversion kit. It went together immaculately and turned into a really beautiful final result. I painted it Tamiya white and fluorescent red, with IndyCals and Classic Racing Resin decals. This is a build for a client, hopefully they like it! Thank you for looking!

Great job on it, Jerry. Hate that this one won't be in your collection long term though.

Guys, thank you for the kind words. This was a fun, painless build. Much credit to Calvin for making a really good and user friendly conversion.
The Penskes from this era were pretty cars, but this one just stands out. I’m definitely going to have to pick up one of these to do a Rick Mears version for myself!

I'd like to take all the credit but Michael helped out a bunch on the shape. I remember staying up EXTREMELY late at night sending emailing pictures to Michael and he would draw lines on the pictures showing what needed fixes and send them back, we did this over and over several times. Lol He kinda had to babysit me a lot back then. Lol I can point out all the spots on that car that Michael helped me on. I plan on doing the 1989 front row. I have tons of these kits in stock. And available at anytime. Comes with smoking cowboy decals and Indycals sells the dayglo decals

Heres the Replicarz version. See how nice Redlegs and Calvin did? Calvins car has a nicer gearbox. I also think it has a more accurate exhaust. Replicarz didnt paint it, i added it to this one. Also want to thank those that have posted tips and helped me This car is nicer because of this places help. Used a bit of solvaset for the Naca ducts by the unmentionable side decals. Fwiw: Replicarz decals werent too bad. I am posting a few before , during and done pics. Cock pit seems appropriately done. Metal suspension is cool, but just a lil too thin looking to me.Paint is good. Mirrors are ok, but not dead on. I may wash the gear box in the future to help it a bit. I also need an antenna. Thanks again for helping me. Making the car more accurate is alot of fun for me. One of these days, i can feel comfortable doing everything.

Small update to Emmo. I have added an antenna and a more accurate fuel vent valve. Darkened the pop off valve recess and the side air scoop. You guys have taught me to think outside the box. The fuel vent valve is from Panada express chop sticks. The paint is enamel. Thanks for looking. ( you notice your flaws when you blow up the pic)
