Today, I completed two builds, the first being a replica of the Ferrari 625 Maurice Trintignant drove to victory in the 1955 Monaco Grand Prix. The Mercedes W196s of Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss-making their European debut-dominated the early going, but both ran into trouble. Fangio went out mid-race with transmission trouble, Moss took over the lead and seemed to have matters well in hand until his detonated with 19 laps to go. Maurice Trintignant, a top French driver took the lead and held it the remainder of the race, winning his first points-paying Formula One Grand Prix. The 625 wasn’t considered competitive, and photographic evidence of Trintignant during the race indicated the car wasn’t handling well, but he persevered and managed to win anyway. People remember this race for Alberto Ascari’s crash into the harbor, but aside from that it proved a relatively uneventful race. The next 16 days would not. In that period, a two-time World Champion, a two-time Indianapolis 500 winner, Pierre Leveigh, and 87 spectators died and almost saw the sport’s extinction. This is a machine stuck at the end of an era. This is a Fernando Pinto kit and I built it straight out of the box with no modifications. Pinto does some interesting kits that build into some really beautiful replicas, this one is no different. I painted it Tamiya Italian Red with Tamiya Aluminum for the cockpit. Thanks for looking!

Nice car. The wheels really look great, that just maybe they are real. Nice job.

F1 cars from this era are beautifully simple. Great job on this one, Jerry, the build is very clean and well done.

Jerry “The Machine” is at it again! Very nice build! What does Triginant have in common with Alonso? He won the Monaco Gp twice (55 &58) and the LeMans 24 hours in 1954...not many victories, but those are 2 of the famous Triple Crown of Auto Racing... Your work is always inspiring Jerry! Another cool build... Tim
