Hi all, I have been working on a conversion of Power's 2019 Verizon 5G car and have hit a snag. I got all of the decals laid down and noticed that once they dried, some of the backing portions have turned grey/silver. I've never attempted a car with a matte paint scheme, so I'm wondering if I messed up by using a matte paint instead of painting it gloss black then finishing with a matte spray. Is there a way to salvage this or am I screwed here and need to order a new set? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated! 3403B545-D79B-414F-9165-4587B874AF11 6676E7FE-616E-47AA-A95F-0788617621EB 96D0D496-72AF-4629-AD9D-C492ECCD8E49

Yep. Gloss paint, then decal, then matt clear coat. Did you use setting solution? Solvaset might help the problem.

I did not use any kind of setting solution, is that something I can do after the fact to attempt to salvage this or should I just reorder and try again? P.S.: Thanks for making the decals, they are perfect. This was clearly an operator error

I'd say Michael would know how to best remove the decals as I believe he does that all the time

Yeah, tape will pull them off. Even when I've used setting solution I've been able to pull them off.

This matte finish topic is always interesting to me, because its the opposite of what a person thinks.
The key to a matte finish with water slide decals is optimizing a gloss finish, FIRST.
I need to do a blog post on this because I've seen this happen so many times. I need to build this car so I can do one.....
