Last year I did a 50th Anniversary Dan Gurney retro and since I consider myself the #1 Mario Andretti fan, I just had to do a 50th Anniversary Mario car. I stripped a modern day Dallara and added Michael's 1969 Brawner Hawk winning decals to it. I wanted to stay true to the 1969 livery but also make it look modern. I made 50th Anniversary decals and applied them it places that I thought looked best. I decided to resin cast some mirrors from the Ertl Brawner Hawk to give it a little bit of 1969 flavor. I also added knockoffs and custom driver figure of Mario in his 1969 uniform and helmet. Also made the digital place counter read 69. All & all I think it turned out very well. I plan to see if I can locate Mario and have him sign the base the Friday before the race. Then sell the car and donate the proceeds to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
My wife has a rare form of Leukemia that we have both dealt with now for 16 years. Very grateful to the doctors and treatments available that has kept her alive and with me for all these years. She is the bravest person I know and the least I could do to help find a cure for blood cancers.

I just love this. What a great idea in the first place followed by your skill and talent in pulling this off. I just love phantoms and "why didn't I think of that" projects like this. May the wind be at your back. Thanks so much for sharing this. My best to you and your wife. Jim

As someone who is living with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and has battled marginal zone lymphoma, I applaud the work of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and of course the very hard work that Tana and Stu do on behalf of all of us fighting this disease. I’m having trouble finding the right words, but great build Stu. Hope you’re able to find Mario to sign it and you sell it for a bundle.

Super SWEEEEEEEEEEET! If that's Stu's favourite thing to hear, then he deserves it!
Honestly! After watching Stu build for the last ten years, I'm not too surprised at how good he does! Just entertaining as always! He's already made it onto the Mount Rushmore of Indycar modellers.

He's already made it onto the Mount Rushmore of Indycar modellers. Nice compliment. His work is incredible. Sweeeeet is right. Sorry to hear about your s.o. Stu. I had a family member suffer from the same. Its a horrible disease. She sounds like a real fighter. I would be proud too. And certianly grateful. Love the knock- offs. Nice touch. Also the cam pod with a day glo band. Looks real. Add another one who hopes you knock down a big number for your donation. If i remember correctly, your 2017 Fernando car went a cool grand. Lets hope for as much. Doing this says something about you. Classy. Thanks for posting.

That car looks better than the Marco Andretti tribute car. I wish they would of put a little more history in the 2019 tribute car. Let Mario know your intentions for the car maybe he can help put it on a good auction site that a lot of high dollar people will bid on it to get the maximum price for it. Great conversion with a great thought behind it. I'll keep you and your wife in my prayers in the coming year.

Stu, a great tribute to your hero. I like that you really made it your own with the Brawner Hawk details. The car, figure, and base are all really well done. I hope Mario loves it and it sells really well.
Lost my mom to multiple myeloma so this going to the L&LS makes it even more special to me. Super sweet, Stu!

Fabulous work, Stu! Sorry to hear about your wife's situation, but with a mate like you by her side, she's got great support. My prayers for both of you. If you do catch up with Mario, wouldn't it be terrific if he commissions you to build one for him! Cameron
