This is the last one of my Champ car series builds that I finished a while ago. Thought I would share it. Decals from Indycals of course. The big thing I did differently was to mask twice. I covered all the areas that were going to be orange and then sprayed the white. Let it cure, removed the tape, and covered the white. This gave me a very even finish with absolutely no ridge, which was necessary because the gray pinstripe decal is crazy thin at the nose and it would not have laid in there as nicely without using this method. Its the second time I have done that with a two tone paint job and the results are worth the effort.

I have found its a cleaner look to drill the holes deeper, dump black paint in them and then cover with dull foil.  |

You can see what I mean about the thinness of that grey pinstripe on the nose. What I didn't appreciate until I had finished this model is how much I like the graphics. They are very simple yet the color combo pops.  |

That is a fine looking Reynard! I like the paint but the overall look is right for this car. I hope you build more of these as they are my favorite kit (and the last plastic kit of IndyCar/ChampCar).

Thanks guys. I appreciate the compliments. These are a fun build, thats for sure. I have enjoyed trying something a little bit differently with each one. I've built 18 of this era Champ car. I think the rarest one I built is the #18 Marc Blundell Motorola sponsored kit. My jaw dropped when I stumbled across that on on ebay 'cause by then I thought I had them all and I have never seen it since. Is it that rare? Anyone know?

Sorry for resurrecting a 2 year old thread, but this along with a few more such as Mo Gugelmin's Nextel car as well as O Servias Telefonica ride should have been realized for the masses imo. Both American Spirit Reynards back in 2003 and Lavins Corona car just a few off the top of my head. Beautuful job btw!!
