This was a fun little build that I took my time with. I sectioned the chassis into three pieces, filled in the molded hole from the seat and glued the two chassis pieces onto the respective body sections, the nose cone and front of car. I removed the struts which makes everything a whole lot easier.

That just had to be glued and sanded to form a smooth look! Like I said, I was too lazy to fill in the axle holes but that ended up working out to my benefit

Abo ut three or four coats of primer to remove any depressions and I also glued the brake duct halves together before painting them.

I always cut the struts off of all my Indy car builds and did the same here. However, I don't cut them flush with the body but rather, I cut into the body and carve the struts out. This gives some extra support to the struts, I don't lose any length, and I can file an appropriate size of entry hole into the body.

They aren't the best rendered decals by any stretch but "Man oh man, did they ever stick well!" Even on the tires, which are a very soft rubber. The extra effort of sectioning that chassis plate sure made a difference in the look of the end product.

Did you reprofile the A-arms at all? I know on the Heller Lotus 99T that it was semi-circular and I really didn't like the look.

I didn't have to do that. Other than deepen some vague panel lines I did no other mods than what I posted, ( at least as far as I can remember)

Great job on that Ferrari.
I always thought those old Heller kits were excellent value - while the fine detail is low, they had pretty accurate body shape, were easy to build, and with a bit of extra effort (as you've done) produce a decent result.
Cheers Mark
