After a long cold winter, spring has finally sprung here in Ohio! The one benefit of a whole lot of cold and a whole lot of snow was that I was able to knock a whole bunch of projects of my build list. For example, here is my build of Dario Franchitti's 1997 Hogan Racing car.
This car has been sitting on the workbench for a very long time. I started in in roughly 2015, got most of the paint sorted out and then completely lost interest in it. After spending a snowy day trying to organize the overflow of projects on my bench, I rediscovered it and finally knocked it out. This started out as an ACE Hardware promo car that I found on eBay for $5, then realized when I got it that it was missing the mirrors and a few of the screws in the bottom were so tightly screwed in that they wouldn't budge, which forced me to drill them out. That said, I am fairly pleased with how it came out. The silver paint seemed to cause a few problems with decal adhesion, so some shifted when I was applying the final top coats of clear. The orange striping really came to life when the clear went on. Prior to clear coating, the finish on the orange but once the clear went on it seems like the Future brought the Fluorescent out even more.
