I am looking for the MPC 1/20 scale 1967 turbine kit (not the 1/25 "Wedge" version).
I have been searching the Internet for this kit, and have had no luck, so I gather it is considered rare? I read some comments deep in a forum somewhere (produced by Google search) that one of the sprues was lost, and as a result, it was never re-issued.
I see there is another kit available of this car, but have read on this forum that the producer sometimes has problems with order fulfillment, so that is not an option for me.
Can anyone here give me a lead on where to look? The IPMS national show is coming, and I had thought of hunting there...
I have done the obligatory eBay searching too, without success...
All help is appreciated.

The MPC kit shows up on Ebay from time to time. Bill J has a 1/25 kit that he lists on a somewhat regular basis. I can't speak for anyone else, but I have never had a problem with Bill. Just don't expect fast shipment, my orders seem to take 3 - 4 weeks. I can live with that. Craig

The only two things you need to get this kit are: 1.) a close watch on E-Bay, and 2.) a fat wallet.
I've never seen this kit in the flesh but have seen a lot of negative comments on the 1/20 UPC Brawner Hawk and Lola T90 kits, so I would wonder about the quality of the Turbine kit.

The quality isn't the greatest, but it's still worth having. The worst part is the body doesn't go together all that well, but it can be coerced. If I had to do it all over again, I would make the nose removable. This would allow you to assemble and putty the nose before painting it. As it is right now, the car has a top body and bottom body and unless you're a glutton for punishment, you pretty much have to paint it before assembly, which means noticeable seams where the body halves go together.

Maybe I can shed some light on this subject.
Many years ago....I wrote an article for Motor Racing Replica News on the 1967 Turbine known as "Silent Sam.' Parnelli Jones was four laps from wining the 500 when a six dollar all-barring went out cause the drive train to die on the back straight.
At the time, the only model out on the car was a very good, SMTS 1/43 scale version. It was very good and took a day to build. The 1/20 scale, MPC kit was rare back then and it going to stay that way. AMT had the model, and can't find one of the sprues with parts for the kit, and it hasn't been worth re-issuing. Even though at one time, AMT wanted to as part of their "collectors choice" kits. Since then the kit has become very rare among "collectors" and high-way robbers. I have built one of the beasts. It's not an easy kit to build, but damn pretty when you finish. I would spend the extra few dollars on Indycals decals for the sucker! That would help!
Sandy on the forum was building one of Bill Jorgensen's 1967 resin kit and was doing a beautiful job on it, through the WHIP on the forum.
I have always liked this car. I remember the sound it didn't make on the track as well.
Best to you
Russ

Thank you for the replys. I have read all of the Turbine threads on this forum.
I guess I will just have to watch eBay until one of the two kits shows up.
