1964 Indy 500 Race day photos by Al Chute

In Pennsylvania on vacation this week. Still recovering from my basement flood in Michigan so I have moved a lot of things that were in the basement temporarily included my EPSON 800 scanner. Brought some Kodachromes from Al Chute's collection to scan while I am here. This time from race day on 1964. I am always amazed at how much these cars changed from qualifying to race day. I am really grateful to Al's brother Bob for thinking of me and giving me these to add to my collection. More to follow later this week. Enjoy!

Tim, again thanks for posting these great photos. These cars were soooo cool. WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT IF SOME RESINISTA PRODUCED THE WATSON REAR ENGINE CARS (Roger Ward- Second place!) OR THE BOBBY MARSHMAN CAR? Subtle hint here.

Hey Sandy! I agree with you that a resin 1964 Watson/Vollstedt kit would be nice! You could Roger Ward or Don Branson (Watson) or Len Sutton (Vollstedt). Also Billy Foster in 1965 I think.

The 1964 Watson Rear engine car had quite a few different changes from the Vollstedt car which he copied, Lancer did a slot car body of Don Branson's Wynn's car and also the Vollstedt car from 1964.
The Ward and Branson are about the same except for the motors a 4 Cam Ford and a Offy.
