I just got a really good deal on the 1/20th scale Revival W154 Mercedes. Specifically the 1947 Don Lee/Duke Nalon version. I’ve always liked the looks of the W154, but never was too interested in it until I discovered that it raced in the 1947 500. I know next to nothing about the post war Indy racing and also nothing about Don Lee. I’ve done the usually Googling but have not found that much. I’m very interested to find which chassis it was as I believe there were a total of 15 made. I’m looking for as much history of the car as I can find and would be very curious as to what happened to the car. If anyone has any info or links to article please feel free to jump in. Go To this link on this site It might help mb2501.proboards.com/thread/2997/duke-nalon-w154-mercedes-infoI do not know if this car still exist, The biggest problem with the car at Indy was that they didn't have any Mech. that knew how to get this car to run right, They were all in Germany right after the war. Thanks for the info! Much appreciated. I’ve been doing some reading of my own and I’ll pass some of it on soon. The kit just arrived today. This one is in pristine shape. Very happy with that. Paul Erlendson

That last black and white photo is very interesting--although women were banned from the pits in those days, they seem to have often flow into the garage areas, and often landed on the frames of the race cars, providing inspiration to the mechanics as they worked?

I have been meaning to go to Barnes and Noble to see if I can get the name of the magazine that had a complete article about this car and its history. The magazine focuses on old, notable cars and the article is now several years old. I recall reading the article and have the impression that the car survived, has been restored, and now is in Europe maybe Germany. Good luck. Jim

Paul, I think the magazine had a dark green cover and had feature articles about historic race cars. You might try "Motorsport" magazine. Jim

I also have this kit. I have subscribed to Motorsport for at least 10 years, and have saved them. They have a database on-line, and you may be able to find which issue you are looking for. Let us know if you find out.

The rules were “relaxed” once the track closed for the day....
