Thought this might be of interest...I was doing some cleaning today and found it after about a decade of the thing being lost! In 1968 an odd sort of overgrown go-kart track opened up in Phoenix, AZ...(Not sure how long it lasted) It was kind of a combo of slot car/go-kart if you will...My pop was buddies with the GM of the deal and got me a ride around with one of the guest Indy drivers there to promote it(Bobby U). The others were Al Unser and Johnny Rutherford. I got all of their autographs on the back of the pictured business card. This was just a couple weeks after B. Unser had won the 500...Al and J.R. had more in their future of course as well as Bobby. All I can remember Unser saying to me was "Hang on kid, we're going for a ride"...He then used a "dirt style" driving technique which I am sure the owners had not forseen when they built the track. All of the Indy drivers were backsteering into the corners using the slot-style track to hold 'em. The cars could spin, but not flip and they could spin but not hit each other either. However, a set of tires did not last long though! I would really like to get a copy of this to one of the Unsers or Rutherford to see if they recall the event. Anybody know how I can do that? Russ B. maybe? Me and Bobby Unser...
