This package just arrived in the mail today. I'm hoping that it will lift me out of my model building funk. Paul Erlendson

Paul, Built it box stock send us pics and put it on the shelf! LOL Stu That's pretty much what I plan to do, but you know me Stu, I can't completely let it alone. First and foremost I'll be working on fit and finish. The only thing this kit is lacking as far as I'm concerned are valve stems and some wiring. Paul Erlendson

I’ve spent the last couple of months trying to find more detailed info on this car, but I’ve pretty much hit a brick wall. I have found a couple of sites that are helpful that I’ll share later, but for right now I’ll just press on. Time to build something! Feel like I’m back at my old civil engineering job working with structural components. Hint to anyone else that will build this kit. Don’t remove every support piece that adds strength to the tube frame for packing. Take one piece off with your favorite sprue cutter and then clean up that spot. Then go on to the next piece. I removed all the support pieces and then started to clean up. In doing so I put too much stress on one of the “welds” and broke it. This frame is very delicate, especially before all the support pieces are added. Paul Erlendson

I found that the best way to build the frame is to clip it off from the large surrounding support and then glue on the front, middle, roll bar and rear supports. Adds a lot of strength and support to the entire structure as it would in the real frame. Paul Erlendson

Since I got this kit last fall, I’ve become very disappointed in its reception. It seems to be the ugly stepchild of the model world. When the news of the of the kit became known two years ago, I envisioned a Joe Honda book, a Studio 27 photoetch set, a Zero Paint set, an aftermarket Cosworth engine and decals for many of the teams that ran the Brabham. Nothing. My biggest challenge in building this kit has been finding any information to add detail that it so justifiably deserves. In finding the David Layton thread on Autosport, I’m now starting to understand some of the details of the wiring and fuel lines. forums.autosport.com/topic/211628-honda-f2-motor-1966/So right now I’m building up subassemblies as I work out their colors and how I’ll add detail. With so many black and white photos from the period and little color, I’ve decided that I’ll make mine look more like the restored car. I also feel like that at some point in 1966, the engine would have looked similar in color to the F1 engine, so I’ll go in that direction. Paul Erlendson

Not much to report. I’m building up sub-assembles as you can see in the photo. I’m really happy with the very small mold ejector marks. Just needed a little sanding and a spot of Tamiya Surface Primer. Overall the fit has been quite nice, but I think that I will need a little seam work on the two fuel tanks. Paul Erlendson

Ok. We all have to do it. I am a little concerned that the chrome with look too bright, but I don’t want to take the time to strip it. I’ve tried in the past to tone down chrome with semi-gloss, but I wasn’t entirely satisfied. Any suggestions? Paul Erlendson

I've never liked "Kit Chrome" always looks "toyish" I totally understand what you mean with trying to tone it down. I know its not a good idea to paint over chrome as its too shiny, I've always just got rid of the chrome, to begin with.
