Ever have a bunch of kits/part laying around and trying to figure out what to do with them? Well after about 40 years of building models I did. Over the last few years I’ve been putting these together to build unique shelf models. This kit features an old Bill Jorgensen Eagle body, Michael’s 3D printed wing and suspension. Add in a set of Kevin’s resin tires, Michael’s resin offy, some kit parts and a set of decals Gary did for me. Top it off with a lot of masking, good old Testors paint, and Future gloss and this is what you get. Art Pollard lived in Medford Oregon during the 1960s and early 70s and was killed during the Indianapolis 500 time trials on May 12, 1973. Pollard raced at Indy seven times, finishing eighth in the 1967 race. For the 1973 race Art Pollard had a new Eagle, two good mechanics, and a new sponsor. All during practice he was saying that this might be his best year. The car was running smoothly. In the Saturday morning practice session on May 12th, Pollard was running 191.4 mph when he lost control of his Dan Gurney Eagle car and smashed into the outside retaining wall at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The car careened off the wall, burst into flames and spun into the infield, where it rolled several times. He was unconscious until his death an hour later at Methodist Hospital of flame inhalation. He had burns, broken bones, and a severe spinal cord injury. Dr Dave

That was a very sad day, one of several that May. I was there. Your build is beautifully done and a nice tribute. That color combination will always bring the Cobre Special to my mind.

Fantastic tribute, Dave. Despite the wide range of parts, the whole thing looks cohesive and it flows together seamlessly.

Excellent tribute build. I recently read Art Pollard's bio. He was an interesting guy with a true grassroots racing background.

Very nice looking car and build. I love the color schemes back in the day. We have some wild one nowadays but back then it was radical.

Great tribute and job. What colour is copper? It seems metalized, but with a very light grain

Juanjo,
The Copper is a mix of copper and gold from the old Testors square bottles.

A most Impressive and unique build. And thanks for sharing Art Pollard's tribute with us. I actually learned a few things from the years I had little time to follow racing.
