I wished they'd show more races from the 70's
I just don't understand why they show races that literally just happen a couple years ago....probably because it's easier than getting an old tape from the 70s converted to digital is painstaking. 🙄

The bigger question I have is how many races from the 70's even had recordings, and if they did, do they still exist? Between USAC's incompetence and the TV landscape of the era, I fear that whatever is out there is all there is. I remember a few years ago when IMS announced they were going to upload the 1972 500, only to backtrack when they discovered the master tape was incomplete/ruined. I have to assume a similar fate befell the 1976 race as I've never seen the any broadcast footage from that year. |

IMSP has an impressive number of races uploaded. Older races have to be more difficult but there needs to be a digitization effort in IMSP.
A new upload of a race already posted frustrates me. I get cutting out a Cosby interview after he was disgraced, not a big fan of revisionist history but I get that race getting a second upload. The 2012 500 was a good race. Does it deserve 4 uploads on IMS property YT channels? NO!!!!
Also, I have reported issues in video comments several times and they never get addressed. For instance, in their upload of the 2013 500 the video freezes and we miss the entire final restart. THE ENTIRE FINAL RESTART. The entire final restart where TK takes the lead and wins. THE PIVOTAL MOMENT OF THE RACE - THE ENTIRE FINAL RESTART. 100+ seconds of freeze frame in a visual medium where we miss the entire final green flag segment. Hard to understand how that does not get addressed.
Look in the comments of the upload, there I am telling them with 69 upvotes and multiple reply comments. IIRC, I posted that comment the day it was uploaded.

IMSP needs to streamline things. There is no point to upload the same race more than once and at some point, the number of races that can be found will dry up for lack of any tv coverage. A personal irritant of mine is their upload of 2006 is missing laps 119 through 152. I find that embarrassing. In fairness, we are now spoiled as not that long ago you were held hostage by what ABC or ESPN would show in snippets. I always felt bad for Tom Sneva and Salt Walther because their 500 crashes were pretty much the only things from the 70's ever shown after the fact.
My personal (small) wish is for the full 1996 Las Vegas race. The race went way long on East Coast ABC and tv ended early, but my understanding is that West Coast stations showed the entire race.
