Been reading for awhile and figured it was about time to register. Probably one of the younger guys here (just turned 30) but got into modeling a few months ago. F1 and Indycar are my favorites, particular the 1963-1968 period. Blame it on the computer game Grand Prix Legends, that came out 20 years ago this year, and which I played throughout most of my teenage years. Have not build much yet, started with a Tamiya Honda RA272 and worked on the Tyrell 6-wheeler, but put that aside as I had some issues with the build. Then did a Tameo kit in 1/43 and am in love with that scale (my eyes are not though) and built a March 701 from their Silverline kits. That one is finished, not perfect (couldn't get the windscreen cut correctly so left that off for now, and the engine could be more detailed) but we're getting there, and am now working on the AMT Lotus 29 with Michael's conversion kit. Other kits I have already purchased include the Tameo Lotus 25 in 1/43, which I plan to build pre-yellow stripe as raced at the 1963 Belgian GP, one of Jim Clark's most memorable wins. Also have a BBR Ferrari F-2001 from the 2001 Belgian GP I will work on at some point (that one might be next), much more modern but want to build it as it was the first motor race I ever attended. Few pictures of the March 701 in 1/43 are below, as raced by Jackie Stewart in the 1970 Spanish GP. Dennis

Dennis, I'm a little late as usual, but welcome to the board, from basically a newbie. Nice to see you post one of your builds. The March really came out quite nice.
GPL came out in 1998, I can't believe it's been that long. I raced in the VROC and online leagues for years. 1967 has long been my favorite F1 season as I was at the Glen that year and finally saw a F1 GP in person.
Looking forward to seeing your in progress updates and finished builds as well.

GPL is the spark that got me interested in the late 60s GP racing.
I drove 30 minutes to the nearest Electronic Boutique (EB Games) on the release date just to pick up GPL. I was never great at it but I spent many an hour playing it.
When in Charlotte on business in 2013 found a copy at Goodwill for $.50 so since my original copy was in storage, I thought why not. My 6 year old has been trying it with a cheap console controller on my laptop - not a good combo LOL. GPL was always super hard and with inferior controls, pretty near impossible.

There's just something about that game...20 years on I can't think of any computer game that still has a following. I think the glory days of GPL was not 1998, but 2003-2006. So many new tracks, cars and later the mods that game out. I lost interest for awhile (in computer games and racing in general) but even now once in awhile I turn it on and play for a few laps and more. There's other games now that also offer a similar experience and perhaps even better. I don't want to invest tons in a new gaming computer, but like watching videos of it on Youtube once in awhile. Here's one that is particularly interesting: rFactor 2 - What's It Like Driving A 60's F1 Car At Historic Spa? | VR |

Dennis, I jus watched that rfactor race at Spa. Wow!! Honestly, I keep on thinking about building a gaming rig for $1,000 without a monitor, buying a Thrustmaster setup for $700, and driving in old man leagues or off line till I'm into my 60s. Gotta say that the AI are really fantastic compared to what we had back in the days. Joel
