Looks good. I forget how most 1967 cars did not have the engine as a stressed member. Keep up the great job!

Thanks Gary, Duane and Jordan.
The Lotus 49 was the first F1 car especially designed to have the engine as a stressed member. Yet another trend started by Chapman. The only cars that preceded the 49 used the BRM H16 engine which was too heavy and unreliable.

Hi,
Stunning! I love the car, the pilot and the kit! I myself have the 1/20 and wonder if it won't be the next purchase...
Bravo. Can't wait to see more.

After a 4 year pause, I'm back on this build. I just finished the Lotus 49 and completing my collection of Grand Prix Legends cars inspired me to continue. I got the body panels sprayed with Tamiya TS-53 Deep Metallic Blue Then I worked on the front bulkhead. And the trans got the rest of its details 3302

Great job on the plumbing. Those 3.0L V12 were incredible beasts and your build is doing it justice!

Glad to see you have this one back on the workbench again! All of the details are amazing! Duane Thank you Duane Rear suspension added. The decaling process has begun. And the windscreen is done. I had to be extra careful with the rivets because there weren't any extra. 3498

Great work on the windscreen. Do you take a long time to sneak up the shape by sanding or do you in there with your scissors? I love this race picture! Jordan

Great work on the windscreen. Do you take a long time to sneak up the shape by sanding or do you in there with your scissors? I love this race picture! Jordan Thanks Jordan. I have found that the line (ridge?) on the vac-form is not quite in the right place. So I have been marking the windscreen about 3mm out from that line. Then I start the process of checking fit, trimming, checking fit, trimming, etc. When I start to get close, I use a sanding stick and sneak up on it. That windscreen took me about 2 hours to get where I was satisfied. That picture is a good one, isn't it.

Paul: My buddy Craig Miller is giving this a standing ovation! I’m a Gurney fan but Craig was his biggest supporter. My opinion: most beautiful F1 car in history. You are giving it the special attention it deserves. Keep up the excellent work! Tim

Then it was time to finish off the nose with it's rivets. Now I have to try to piece together this exhausting puzzle. 3609

When you build yours, reach out to me and I'll share whatever insights I've acquired. The last thing to do was to make the intake screen. And with that done, the car is finished. 3698
