Anyone else facing troubles trying to strip the chrome off of the new Greenlights? Stripping the chrome suspension off of the autograph car has been unsuccessful using both Castrol Super Clean and Easy-Off.

I tried to do a similar strip of the chrome Greenlight wheel rims with no success. I think the plating process has actual metal in it. I ended up lightly scuffing them, priming and painting. You could cover them in carbon fiber decal. Otherwise you might have to use the same scruff, prime and paint method.

I was successful stripping the rims from a 2012 DW12 simply soaking in Castrol Super Clean for about 20 minutes... trying a couple different options and nothing's working so far on the 2018.

I've used Clorox Laundry Bleach for yrs. It has worked good. I found the new concentrated bleach works even better. It's thicker and works a lot faster than the regular bleach. I haven't tried to strip those particular wheels but it has worked Great on all the chrome parts that I've stripped. Plus...you can throw it down the drain when finished. Hope this helps you a little.

I've tried scraping away parts of the chrome to reveal the base plastic to provide any solution a starting point, with little avail. So far, I've tried Super Clean, Easy Off, Simple Green for multiple days on various parts.

Update: I thought Gary's bleach tip was the perfect solution. Tried a part that had been soaking in something else previously and the bleach took the chrome right off! Then proceeded to place a few other parts in fresh bleach and nothing.
So seems a combination of (something, either Simple Green or Castrol Super Clean) followed by Bleach *should* work...
