Tonight I finished my rendition of the Porsche March 90P Teo Fabi drove on speedways in 1990. March designed a beautiful Porsche-powered machine for the 1990 season. If looks won races, this piece of art would’ve been undefeated. Alas, they don’t and while the car showed tremendous potential in the season, it never met expectations. There are some reasons for this. Porsche and March hoped to make the monocoque completely of carbon fiber, but CART disallowed them. It seems the fear of other owners that a carbon fiber bodied car with a powerful Porsche engine could run roughshod over the field the way the German marque did in other series caused them to make this prohibition. The aluminum-bodied car weighed much more and wasn’t as the original design. The car’s design placed the turbocharger between the cockpit and engine. It improved weight distribution, but also caused fuel pump issues at times. These issues hamstrung the car, making it difficult to compete in an intense series. However, drivers Teo Fabi and John Andretti soldiered on. Fabi won a pole at Denver and had four top-tens and Andretti had seven top-tens. While the car didn’t perform as hoped, it was a looker of a machine and tried to innovate. What might have been! The kit is Terry Kuzman’s great new kit, with Michael’s super decals. It’s painted Tamiya TS-93 blue and Tamiya pure white. The kit went together with no difficulties and looks nice when completed. Thank you for looking!

The car looks great in superspeedway form like you built it. Such a unique looking car which was low and long for the day. Plus that mid-car exhaust is striking. To me, it would be hard not to display this one with that side pointing out.

Thank you for the kind words on the build. I really enjoyed this one and I hope it encourages more people to build Terry’s great new kit!
