2017 Indy 500 Winner

1/43 Brickyard Models kit. A surprisingly difficult and frustrating build (I may have increased the level of difficulty by assuming the build would be quick and easy). Lining up the suspension and the aero at the rear of the car was quite the 3 handed challenge. I took the model to the So Cal NNL yesterday and, to my embarrassment, the category judge pointed out the unprototypical camber and caster of the model's wheels (which I spent this morning correcting). If you plan to build this model, I suggest obtaining the Indycal sheet as the kit decals are prone to sticking to their initial contact point on the model's surface and refusing to budge into the proper position.

What color blue did you use?

The blue is Scalefinishes French Racing Blue. It is actually darker than it appears in the photos. The photos were taken outside with sunlight filtered through a white screen and the blue got bleached out.

The show was excellent! It was the first time the show was put on by Art and Lisa Laski since they took it over from Chris and Yolanda Hale. The Laskis heavily promoted the show and obtained some top notch sponsorship from Tamiya, Grex, and some local vendors. They were rewarded with a huge turnout of very high quality models, a vendor table sellout, and a lot of happy attendees. It was the first model show I attended that had just as many people milling around at the end of the show as were milling around at the middle of the show, i.e., it didn't look like anyone left early.
