I’ve read about some builds recently where the modellers have used solder for joining white metal parts because it gives you a strong join. The thought of going near a metal part with a soldering iron gives me the shakes. I’ve done a bit of electrical soldering, but this is a whole different problem....different solder, delicate parts and the low melting point of white metal. I’m curious about what you veteran gear heads use...CA glue, 2 part epoxy or solder. I value all opinions. All the best Tim

I was reading about someone’s build of a Scale Motorsport Shelby Coupe. It’s resin, photoetch and a lot of white metal parts. It was in a Tamiya Model magazine from a few years ago. I’ve always used what you mentioned on the few kits I’ve built that have white metal. The magazine build looked really nice, especially the suspension. I guess the guy is a soldering expert:)

Kip has used solder on several of his builds. He would be the best one to ask how, and when to use it.

Thanks for this video. Now my problem is finding these products in North America if possible. I’ve been into some electronic supply stores and I get blank stares when I ask for low temp solder.

Thanks Cameron. I’ve settled on using epoxy. I have some JB Weld and some clear epoxy as well. I also email the guy who owns Scale Motorsport, Matthew, and he recommends staying away from soldering unless you really know what you’re doing because it’s very easy to melt your metal parts. Makes sense to me.
