Ok, I ask a lot of od questions, but I am still learning!
I have been told by a fellow modeler that I can build A.J. Foyt's '65 rear engine car most easily from a Lotus 29. I will be getting Bob's drawings (if he has that one! I am sure he does.)
From a couple of pictures I have found online, it appears to have been painted and marked just like his '64 roadster. A redo of the decal artwork on the numbers should make that part ok.
I am planning a collection of Super Tex's cars from '58-'65, plus '67 and '77.
So, can anyone tell me I am on the right track?
Thanks! Mongo

Mongo,
You are on the right track. You can, by using the old AMT 1963 Lotus 29 you'll get Foyts Pole Winning Lotus. Just follow certin guidelines and you'll have it. Change the engine, wheels and tires. You'll have to add some to the main body for they widened it for Super Tex as well. Bob has excellent drawings of it too.
Best to you
Russ

How easy it will be will depend on how accurate you want it to be . This car was very heavily reworked as Bob's drawings will show (yes he has drawings of it), and if you plan to do the race day version it will get even more involved !!! Photos of the car will also be very helpful , I will be glad to share with you what photos I have , contact me through my website and I will scan and send you some useful pics. Lance

I’ve wanted to do a Lotus 34 for years, in my case Jim Clark’s 1964 Lotus 34, but I’ve always struggled with the engine cover. I have Bill’s drawing for both Clark’s and Foyt’s cars and it looks like there is very little difference between the two cars in the engine cover area. I’m looking for suggestions on how to arrive at the proper contours of the engine cover and get them symmetrical. I’ve read Russ’s explanation on how he did the engine cover for his Bobby Marshman Lotus 29, but the engine covers between the 1964 Lotus 29’s and the Lotus 34 look so different, that I’m not too sure that what he did is applicable for the Lotus 34. I’ve been waiting for Lance to bring out his 1965 Foyt Lotus 34 to help me in that area, as I thought that I might use part of Lance’s kit as a basis my Clark’s Lotus 34. I would be very interested in a discussion on creating the engine covers for all Lotus 34’s.

A great big thank you to Russ, Lance, and Bill (slidinsideways)!!! I have lapses in what has already been posted, so i greatly apologize for missing the previous article.!
This is a *must do* to go along with lance's great conversion set for the '64 winning roadster.
Thanks, again, gentlemen! Mongo
