I spoke/cajoled Vern to make more Offenhauser engine kits! He said he wanted to add it back into the line anyway, and that he'd get to it soon. I don't know if this floats anybody else's boat, but it's a great little model and it seems to me it would finish out any appropriate machine quite well. My intension is to use one (I ordered two) in the stainless chassis I'm building. I had started, out of frustration, to cut up an AMT offy and a Monogram one. With some of each engine and a good sized helping of patience, plus new fabricated cam covers and gear case you could do a decent job.
What's interesting is that the Monogram engine is oversize and the AMT is quite a bit undersized. In fact, if you look at dimensioned drawings and compare them to the kit thing, you'll find the AMT is actually closer to 1/32nd scale than 1/25th. Somebody drank their lunch?

Norm Veber of R & MoM was so gracious and helpful when Ed and I acquired the Etzel line, that I told him at the last MAMA club meeting that he should feel free to produce the Offy again. He wasn't going to do so, unless he got the okay from me. I'm happy that he is going to make it available again for everyone. He is a great guy, and his line of products is amazing. He doesn't have a website, but ordering his catalog is well worth the $8. He has hundreds and hundreds of items His casting ability is fantastic, in fact, he's the one who taught Harold Bradford the art of resin casting.

Norm has been around forever and his stuff is first-rate, as is his service. I don't have a need for an Offy right now, but I'm glad it's available again!

I am in for at least 2 Offy's from R&M of M. Norm does great work and always treats me right. He makes some really unique and useful items for all sorts of models.
