The 1963 is a AMT kit with the conversion kit from Indycals, and Calvin. The 1965 is a Lance Sellers kit with decals from GWS Texas. The 1966 is the first kit from Gary Doucette, and yours truly with Indycals decals, and a windscreen from Calvin. The 1969 is my conversion of the original Lance Sellers kit. I did a WIP on each one if you are interested. Last, but certainly not least, the figure was done by "my brother from another mother" Tim Jones, one of my treasures.

Great looking collection! I wonder what the bumper sticker is worth.

Great looking collection! I wonder what the bumper sticker is worth. That sticker is a repop. I do have an original in a frame.

I believe the original bumper stickers didn't have "CAR AND DRIVER CANDIDATE" in the white stripe.
Which years/races are the Cobra and the Riverside Gurney annual benefit car from?

Awesome collection Craig! I kick myself for missing the '66 Eagle when it was available.
I enjoy the obscure cars, like the Chevy. I'm hoping to use an old Ferrari 512S (Union, maybe?) to do the car Dan drove with Chuck Parsons at the Daytona 24 hr in 1970.
I have everything I need to make the Monte Carlo Dan drove at Riverside in '80 (or was it '81?) But I've been trying to figure out how to do the "ghost" "0s" on the roof and sides. I just heard the story about those for the first time. (He was entered in #480 and his teammate James Hylton, who usually ran 48 was also entered in 480. Gurney out qualified him, of course, so he got to run 48, while Hylton, I assume, ran 80). Yours looks perfect! Did you find a matching decal then paint over it? Thanks!

I do have an original sticker which has the CAR AND DRIVER CANDIDATE on it although there may have been more than one offered. The Cobra is from the 1964 Targa Florio where Dan, and Jerry Grant drove, and won their class. The Chevy is from the 1980 Riverside race. Thanks for looking, John.

Mark J The decals came that way, Mark. I wish I could tell you who made them, but all I know is that the came from Ebay. You could talk to Gary Sleeper(GWSTEXAS) it has been my experience that he can make anything you want. Neat story about that race. Dan had been retired for 10 years, so the powers that were thought he should go to the Bondurant school for a refresher course. Bob Bondurant was asked how he did. He said "nothing has changed, he was faster than me 20 years ago, he was faster than me 10 years ago, and he is still faster than me.

I was young, but I can clearly picture that car coming through the esses at Riverside.

They are all great looking, Craig. My favorite is probably the '66 because in my mind that is the prototypical AAR paint scheme. The figure is nice, too, I love what a figure adds to a model display.

I was thinking of painting it on and then painting white over it, but a decal is much easier. MJ
