FROM GLUE BOMB TO HALL OF FAME MUSEUMThis is an old, and I do mean OLD Aurora/Best 1935 Indianapolis 500 Winner Gilmore Special I bought off EBay some time ago. It has been sitting on my desk for months! Now is the time to get it ready for when it is placed into the ever growing display at the Indianapolis Hall of Fame Museum of past winning cars. First, here is how it was when I bought it... I then took it apart... I then took sheet plastic and made the right side more accurate by building up the cockpit side and make an engine cover the way it was on race day. I also painted the car to match it's true color....cream and red to match the Gilmore Colors... More later...... Best to you Russ

Beautiful. I love to see glue bombs transformed into art forms. By the way, what method did you use to take the bomb apart?

Thank goodness the "builder" who did this years ago used the old pactra tube glue......It was yellow and scraped off after a night of the old water to freezer trick. Just took a old xacto knife and it POPPED loose.
Best to you

Wow, your "glue-bomb" looks WAY worse than mine! Great save! I never pass up an old built-up like that, you can get them SO much cheaper than a "collector" kit and that old glue comes apart very easily (usually!). Keep us updated, please!

Well....Almost doneFrom EBay Glue Bomb to this. Just a few short weeks, some elbow grease and paint.... You can get a decent built from a glue bomb All it needed was some new-improved suspension parts.....And remember, to have fun! Best to you Russ

What a great example of what a little TLC and some talent will do for an otherwise piece of scrap plastic.
Nicely done Russ.
