I’m not sure if anyone has seen this book; I listened to a talking book version and really enjoyed it. I’m not up on the politics and scandals of F1 and Igather that Newey and the other main people at Williams really took a beating in the press over Ayrton Senna’s death. Newey comes off as a pretty stand up guy in the book and goes into tremendous detail about what happened and why.All that aside, I really enjoyed the book. It’s very technical which we love of course! I learned about how F1 teams operate and the constant battle of huge egos, bending the rules and stealing each other’s secrets. I’m waiting for the print version to come out because it has a lot of his drawings included. Highly recommended.

Just picked up the Feb 2018 issue of the British mag "Motorsport". A flash in the upper left corner of the cover announces an article entitled "Adrian Newey - How building model cars inspired me." Inside, the article begins with a photo of Newey holding what appears to be a 1/20th model of Tamiya's Red Bull RB-8. The interview for the article took place at The Hobby Company, the U.K. distributor for Tamiya. The article quotes Newey as saying "That Tamiya Lotus 49 kit was where it all started". Good article on a great designer with lots of neat images within The Hobby Company.

I will have to see if I can get a copy of this one. I really like Inspired to Design by Nigel Bennett.

A couple of years back the SKY F1 crew did a piece on Brundle driving a Lotus 49 at Zandvoort owned by Newey.
Like you lads have stated. It all started with building a 1/12th Tamiya Lotus 49 and he went on to buy a real one and run it.
I think there is a lad at Red bull who grew up designing paper models of racing cars and works out the patterns for fabrication of some of what Newey puts down on his drawings.
