Hi I’m Tim from Toronto in Canada. I’ve been interested in scale modelling since I was a kid but only returned to it actively about 8 years ago. Recently I’ve become interested in building car models with open wheel vehicles grabbing most of my attention. Growing up in the ‘60’s there was a lot of F1 racing to watch in the 12 channel universe, so guys like Jim Clark, Dan Gurney, Graham Hill etc. were names you heard all the time. In Canada we had our own superstar, Gilles Villaneuve, who was one of the few non hockey players to command a big stage. Currently, I’m building the Ebbro Lotus 49; a great kit. Coming up is a Model Factory Hiro McLaren....my wife of 35 years asked me if there was a model kit that I wouldn’t normally buy for cost reasons. MFH was the answer and lo and behold on the 35 th anniversary there it was! I guess towing the line all these years paid off. Glad to find this great site; I have so many questions to ask and I’m sure I’ll find the answers here.

Thank you all for the nice welcome. I’m on a snowbird holiday from Canada so I won’t be able to build anything for about a month. I have been working on the engine of the Ebbro Lotus 49. I started it at home before I got to the US and really messed it up. Fortunately I got a replacement from Freetime hobbies. I think I’ll post some pictures of that. The MFH kit will have to wait until I get home. In the meantime, I’m reading and re-reading the instructions. I’ve never built anything this complex in a car kit but I have built some resin ship kits with lots of PE and bad instructions🤔
