I figured a Merit kit would be an easy start to my first post-Flood build... I’m trying the Deeks wire wheels... I chose this particular car because the vast majority of these were all French Blue. Fred Wacker, a gentleman racer, arrived in Belgium and the car had been given a red (numbers), white(upper body) and blue (lower body) maker over. Gary will make the decals, including 48 Star USA flags... More race info and car/driver history to come...Dang it is great to be modeling! Tim

It is good to see you building again...I was going to post a remark about washing the parts before painting, but I figure you're tired of water jokes. Build on... --Frank

Cool project. The wheels look good too. Were they much of a struggle?

I've wanted to do this car/driver combo ever since I saw a photo in American Grand Prix Racing! Thanks...now I don't have to do it!

And another checkered flag... When Wacker arrived, they told him to push his butt into the side cushions of the seat when cornering...the car was top heavy and could tip over... He qualified 15th (out of 22), and would end up 9th...remember, this is 1953 (I was 2) and everybody ran Formula 2 cars and Ferrari and Ascari kicked everybody’s rear... Rare fact: another American, Harry Schell, would qualify 12th and finish 7th in the same type car... I am chuckling at the threads in this group...got big scale massively complicated and cool Ferrari’s by Pascal and Paul...and this kit with like 25 pieces...strange and interesting hobby we pursue, don’t you think? Comments, questions welcome...thanks for stopping by... Tim

Oohh BABY! I have one of these and have never seen this scheme. Excellent! "When Wacker arrived, they told him to push his butt into the side cushions of the seat when cornering...the car was top heavy and could tip over..." Now there's a real confidence builder

Gary: The Merit kit is “Gordini 1952”...it is molded in light blue...
I have noticed that I often forget to reply to questions...I see them and tell myself I will respond later, but then forget...getting senile as I get older!...
Joe Scott: I am going to build a Merit Maserati 4CLT and will show the Deek’s Wire Wheels construction...it’s troublesome, but doable...the photo etch is a tad too small, so I fabricated a “ring retainer”...hopefully, the WIP will Show this better...
Always appreciate the comments...and questions! Tim
