Well I waited for you guys to grab this one and no one did, so I will... Yep, it is the “mother of all Indy controversies”...what does “blend” mean?...what is “appropriate?”...I have heard Mario and Bobby argue this...Mario did the same thing, but didn’t pass as many cars... Right after the Great Flood, I got this in the mail with a nice note from Dan Parke (raceparke on here)...it cheered me up and got me to dreaming of modeling again...I can’t say Thank You enough!...may have to make a trip to upstate NY to see the Parke Motor Racing Museum... OK gents! Time to get cracking! Somebody do Clark’s flo red second place car from 1966...1941 Winner...Cummins diesel...any Turbine... Tim

I can’t wait to see this build progress! Of all the controversy at Indianapolis, this is probably the biggest.
I’ve got the popcorn and will keep my eyes glued to the screen!

Tim, You’re very welcome. We would be pleased to host a tour of the Museum any time. I’m glad to see you with a bit of discretionary time to enjoy and may 2018 bring more of the same. All the best, Dan Parke

How long did it take Uncle Bobby to win it? 6 months + ? Nice touch with the cv joints. The dark gap is realistic. Going to be slick.

What was modified on the rear suspension? The car looks really good and hope it finishes up well for you. Always will be thankful to Lance for doing this one!

Dang! Anybody notice the last mock-up picture has the rear suspension in upside down? Palm to face... Tim
Jordan: Lance’s kit does not include the upper rear suspension arms...they are invisible when attached, and are a very unusual shape...I also attached 2 new struts, from the suspension to the trans...the idea came from Jim’s (illeagle 10) build which is on the Indycar Modeling Board...I have never seen a rear suspension made like this...
Something I learned about this disputed race...in those days, the TV broadcast was tape delayed...NO ONE, not the radio announcers, not the officials, and no teams at the time seemed to have noticed the pit road passing...however, someone pointed this out to Jim McKay and Jackie Stewart, so they commented to spice up the show...this would lead to the protests, Mario declared winner, and 6 month court fight (longest Indy 500 of all time)...this answers the question why Mario and his team didn’t show up in Victory Lane to dispute the results... Sooooooooo, this mess was caused by media commenting afterwards... Tim

Didnt catch the rear suspension. But i wouldn't likely go research the car unless i was doing the model. I remember noting the upper rear wish bones were beefy, but i just attributed that to the design. I also noticed the sway bar seemed on the wimpy side, but again owed it to the design. No, i think you got away with it until you posted it. On the '81 race, i have sort'a wondered over the years, how could soooo many miss this, or was it a case of didn't want to make waves or simply know the rules? And ( as we now know happens alot more) the media took the oppurtunity to stir it. Both passed cars under the yellow. Where they did it, i just cannot buy race control didn't catch it. Soooo blatant. Yet sooo disorganised. I was always under the impression the Speedway took it on the chin, kind of like 2002. We can't get this straight? ?

I had forgotten how slick the ground effect cars look...fast, standing still... I have to tint the windscreen and put on mirrors, and this one’s about done... The definition of “clean”... One last shot before decals... Tim
