Note-I deleted the previous thread until I could find a better photo hosting site, I think I have. This is my replica of Swede Savage’s Eagle he piloted in the 1973 Indianapolis 500. Tragically, Savage crashed in this car during the race and died a little over a month later from injuries resulting from the accident. But, Swede Savage was much, much more than that crash, he had a world of talent and a deep reservoir of determination, showing great promise as a champion of the future by the time he sat in Pat Patrick’s Eagle in 1973. His versatility on two or four wheels made him a much-sought after driver in many different series. It’s safe to say that as of this writing that the 1973 500 proved the worst in the race’s storied history. I’ll not go into detail here, but it was a sorrowful month. Savage, however, shone through the gloom started fourth and led 12 laps in the 1973 500 until his accident. Though he is no longer with us, Savage lives in the hearts of racers to this day. The kit is from Terry Kunzman (Silver City Models) and it’s painted fluorescent red. I used Molotow chrome for the chrome parts on this car and it really makes it pop. The decals are from the brilliant set produced from Michael at Indycals. If you haven’t gotten one of the Eagle kits and have the chance to do so, I advise you pick one up. They’re incredible! Thanks for looking.

Wow!!! I really like this. Your work is just amazing. The 1973 race was one of the darkest in my years at Indy. I worry about your posing the picture on the top of the railing. A long fall would not do anyone any good. Can you share any information about your "new" photo hosting site. I was using Photobucket and that is now long gone. I would like to learn how to do this especially if a new site is any easier. Thanks. Jim

Great looking Eagle. I really like the Flo red and the open rear area of the era. Swede' story is one of the saddest od any racer. Medical mistakes are unforgivable.
I thought about getting the race winning car but decided to stay away from all the winged cars. Indy really lost my interest when they went to all the aero enhancements.

Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate them. As far as the image hosting site I used, it’s postimages.org. It doesn’t require an account and the photos turn out really well.

That is a beautiful build (hey, I'll get my build of the #20 and we'll go racing!). And the Silver City kit really is a great kit. I hope you had as much fun building yours as I did mine. Thank you for sharing it here.

Outstanding! Thanks for the new photos. Which paint did you use for the red?

Nice job on the Eagle. It is a great looking kit and done so well. I like the choice of Swede, too, a fine looking tribute. I am sure Angela would approve of it!

Thank you everyone for the compliments, I’d wanted to do this car for ages and Terry and Michael rewarded my patience with a well-engineered, easy kit.
For the fluorescent red, I used Tamiya TS-36. It went on glossy and smooth and really pops!
Thanks again!
