I’m trying to understand how a real Reynard goes together. I've been spending a little time looking for photos of the under tray of the Reynard Champ car and I found this photo of a floor that looks very similar to the Revell kit. Does anyone have any other photos of the floor or how the car goes together? Is the skid plate as depicted in the Revell kit one piece? Paul Erlendson

Stu and I were talking today about this and he believes that the skid plate that I’m curious about was made of wood. Here’s a screen shot of Bobby Rahal’s accident at the 1998 Motegi race. I thought that it looks rather metallic color, but looking at the edges there is some black. Were these skid plates the old Jabroc planks, possibly painted black and lot has just worn off? It was my understanding that the plates were made of wood and determined the mandated ride height. They certainly left no gouges in the curb at St. Pete when they were rolled onto the track. --Frank

I will look as I go through downloading my PB. Pretty sure I have a floor pic of it on stands in the paddock area of a race. Jabrock may have been common I think these skid-plates were sometimes aluminum. I saw a guy walking off with one from Team Green's dumpster in 1999 and it being aluminum.
You can see they they also painted the skid-plates so they could see where they were wearing during a run.
