Been wanting to do this project for awhile (especially the 1969 Dover winner) but curious if anyone has attempted it. I've come across some heads that can be modified for the engine (& will be used for the King dirt car version). References of the car are lacking to say the least (although the car is/was at Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed). Never seen any photos of the car with the lid off for details. Any help most appreciated.....THANKS MUCH!

It might be easier to scratch build the car you mention. This thread has photos of the thermo-king version. But good reference non-the-less. Substitute a Plymouth with appropriate Weslake heads. I suspect it used a Halibrand gearbox. Add the STP nose variant. indycarmodeling.proboards.com/thread/1595/1969-thermo-kingCheers Stephen

For those that would like a less challenging build using MPC Lotus STP Kit, look at the #57 Carl Williams Gerhardt/Offy from the '69 Indy 500. openwheel33.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/1969-CAR-57.jpg

You are welcome fallscity48. You could try making the Gerhardt from the lotus 56, however the only thing in common is probably the colour! Although wedge shaped, the Gerhardt was a pretty convention rear engine layout and rear mounted gearbox(Halibrand, as previously mentioned). The monocoque appears to be be slightly narrower externally, and its configuration internally and driver location within the wheelbase is different. The suspension is also different from the Lotus 56 and more similar to the previous model Gerhardt. The Gerhardt was not 4wd and not converted from a 4wd chassis.
Look forward to seeing your interpretation of a replica.
