I *might* have asked this before, but I don't remember the responses, if there were any......
Has anyone bashed a '67 Eagle from the MPC '68 Gurney Eagle kit? If so, can you provide any information, please?
Thanks! Mongo

The 67 Eagle is MUCH closer to a Lotus 38 than a 68 eagle. The tubs are virtually the same on the Lotus and the 67 Eagle as is the suspension. The 68 Eagle is a much, much different car.
Start with a Lotus38 and the job will be way easier.

The Lotus 38 and 66-67 Eagle cars were both designed by Len Terry. The cars are very similar, differing only in details. The Eagles did not have offset suspension in 66, and a 1 inch offset in 67. The Lotus had a 3 inch offset. For us as model builders the main difference is the nose and the suspension offset. The book " Gurneys Eagles" by Karl Ludvigsen has the history of these cars, and some useful photos. Of course the Eagles had the Eagle wheels and Goodyear tires. Craig

Thanks for the link Paul. The drawings don't show up very well but they print fine. Craig

Rob Hi Rob, When I get the drawings (thanks professor!), and another Lotus 38 kit, I will begin construction and take pictures as I go. As long as the real good builders here don't laugh at me too much! ;D Mongo

I'll appreciate it. Looking at the SMTS drawing, I am already confused at the positioning of a few parts. I could find no photos of the car online either (but I did find a few photos of models). I see there is a book on the Eagle cars, but after buying the kit, some supplies, an airbrush and compressor, I am tapped out. Rob

Google 1966 Indy 500, click on photo archive, That will show photos of many of the cars in the 67 500. That works for most years. Craig

Thank you, Craig. I was being too specific in my searches, I guess (searching for the car specifically). I did as you suggested and found about five different photos of the car (and the #48 car).
