I just started building the Etzell 1926 Winning Miller # 15 driven by Frank Lockhart. I can't seem to find any photos of the left side to see whether the side panel had louvers cut in it. There are 2 panels with the kit that are for different variants other than the 1926 winner. If anyone has a photo, or if they know what the side panel should look like, please let me know. Thanks!

Bob, I happen to be working on the Etzel Stutz Blackhawk, and along with the kit, I have the book that ARM was also offering. There is one pic of the car from 1926 on the left, but it might be a little inconclusive- I'll let you be the judge. The second picture is from 1928, and I'm not sure it's the same car, even though the number is the same, and it could have been modified by then. Hope it helps... Art

Hi Art: Thanks for that info but I actually have those 2 photos. The one shot of the per-race lineup is too fuzzy to see anything of use and the newer car, as you noted, may have been modified. I think it was, as the 1926 shot of the winner from the right side doesn't show louvers on the top of the hood, but the shot of Ray Keech has a louvered hood. I'll just pick one of the hoods that came with the Etzell kit. I saw Gerry Jackson at the Nats in Omaha last week. He says hi. Thanks again for getting back to me.

Please take a look at the Replicars issue of this Indy winner. Some of the ads show left side photos. While they are not historic, they may be correct. Bob Clindst (sp) consulted with them on colors, decals, appearance, etc. for several years and for several cars. I have no way of knowing if he had anything to do with this one but it might be a good bet. Hope this helps. Jim

Hi Bob,
I figured you would have seen those, but it was worth a shot.
Thanks for passing on the the greeting from Gerry. I ran into him at Perris at the sprint car races and we had a quick chat about you and recognizing the Mongoose. Small world sometimes...
How was Omaha? Will you be going to Phoenix next year?

First- thanks to all for the responses. As to the nationals next year- that's a little bit too far for me. I'm going to try and make Chattanooga, TN in 2019, though. Gerry's a good guy and good modeler also. I always enjoy seeing him and Mark Schachter at the nats. Mark is about as much of a psycho as you are when it comes to detailing and his 1/48 scale aircraft belong in a museum (as do your builds!)

Oh, yeah, Mark Schacter is off the charts. I appreciate the compliment, but that guy is in another league. The mustang he did a couple of years ago is insane.
Too bad we won't see you in Phoenix. I'll have to think about TN. It might be a good getaway.
