DO NOT USE PHOTOBUCKET IF YOU GO OVER THE BASIC 2GB, THEY WILL CLOSE YOU DOWN AND WANT $400 A YEAR FROM YOU.
All of your pictures on any forum you belong to will disappear.
Way to go Photobucket.

Photobucket has turned into a complete joke. It makes me mad that now basically half of our forum is now pictureless for the past WIP posts. Makes all of our hard work go to waste and others that need help now cant see all the pitcures.

Has anyone paid their fee? Does it help? How much does it cost?

I know some people use Facebook, but the trouble there is the picture quality decreases. Let me do some research about image hosting and see what I come up with.

There are $5.99 and $9.99 per month plans, too. I have been a paying member for most of a decade. It has not been perfect but I have used it for off-site backups of family photos and movies. Still been considering moving to a free service for a while or something more for the whole computer.

What frosted me most about the whole deal was that Photobucket curtailed lower-tier accounts from linking hosted photos with zero warning the service was ending. I could understand the need to curtail the service, especially if it was causing strain on company resources. But if I'd been notified in advance this was happening, it would let me plan ahead. Even one week's notice would have been something.
Just out of curiosity I went through my message folders just now (even searching my deleted items, which I seldom dump) and found no messages from Photobucket about this change to accounts. Maybe they did send one out and I missed it, but the e-mail account matched to my Photobucket account showed no such thing. I had been a Photobucket user since 2008, too, and they knew how to get hold of me, but I heard nothing.
Instead, like many of you, I found out via boards like these and by social media. That is a textbook example of how to turn customers against you forever. Photobucket botched the change and lost control of the message. Even if Photobucket realizes this was the wrong move and tries to fix things, the damage is done.

Found a decent work around for the PB issue. I changed all the IMG tags to URL tags which works well, but takes the reader a lot longer to process through a post. Took about a minute to edit a post with about 10 images, pretty quick using the copy and paste hot keys.

Being somewhat feeble minded when it comes to techy stuff, could you please explain what you did to what and where? Maybe an example?
Thanks

Being somewhat feeble minded when it comes to techy stuff, could you please explain what you did to what and where? Maybe an example? Thanks kip NP Kip Here is Stu's top post in the Fernando Alonso Test Car Custom thread The code looked like this: [p][img src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/FA%2002_zpsxyxqltzh.jpg" style="max-width:100%;" alt=""][/p][p] [/p][p][img src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/FA%2003_zpsmfl3yk9v.jpg" style="max-width:100%;" alt=""][/p][p] [/p][p][img alt="" style="max-width:100%;" src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/20170524_221249_resized_zpssqysmxwf.jpg"][/p] Here is change recommended: [url]http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/FA%2002_zpsxyxqltzh.jpg[/url] [url]http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/FA%2003_zpsmfl3yk9v.jpg[/url] [url]http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/20170524_221249_resized_zpssqysmxwf.jpg[/url] Which yields a result like this: The p tags are line tags I think, if I remember html right.... I took them out because I thought they were unnecessary for this forum. That part does not really matter. Jordan

Oddly enough I tried this also for the Fernando post not knowing that you had already done it. All I see are the URL links so I must have screwed it up!

I also might wait a few days to see what happens. So much backlash against PB that I imagine they will rethink this...

I had P.B from 05 to about 08 if I remember correctly. They started taking away choices and I just got Fotki and was learning that. I was a paying customer also but didn't like the way they were running things back then. I dropped them and have been with Fotki ever since. I didn't ever use the FREE side of either site so I haven't had to worry about having enough memory space. I pay $24.00 a yr and have never had a problem. I just started using their DESK TOP loader and it is a lot easier than the older version that I was using in the past. If anyone is interested...here's a link to see what they offer. I hope this will be of some help to some one..... secure.fotki.com/payment/view

I tried this on one of my Delrose dirt car posts and it did not work. I also went to the Alonso Test Car thread and all I see is the code, no photos. I must be missing something here.

It only works to give links to the pics, there is no way to see the Photobucket pics here without the user paying at least $6.99/mo. At least with links, there is still a way to see the older pics.

To those of you who have a lot of photos on PB, why not consider a web hosting company? That's what I did.
You don't have to have a "website" per say, but for $67 a year I get a domain AND 10gig of space. The one I use comes with it's own FTP uploader so you don't need a dedicated program.

Anyone know of a way to download my entire PB library? I’m having to do it pic by pic but I have literally thousands of pics on there.
Got notified a few weeks ago my plan had been grandfathered for like over a year but they were stopping it. $400/yr is the only 3rd party hosting option they offer going forward. I’d like to keep the shared stuff up but working to get PB out of my monthly budget.

This is an extension for Chrome which fixes the issue. The photos need to be where they were originally.

I need to rant! I dont think its proper to rant in public, but this about Photobucket, so that's Ok to do! LOL Stupid Photobucket keeps on harassing me with emails wanting money! Now thats what you call a bad business model - for years they offered a nice free service but then all of a sudden they start holding everyone hostage, then all of a sudden backing off, now they are back to treating us like we are worthless for not paying money...
One of these days Im going to save all of my pictures off their worthless site, painstakingly upload to Imgur and fix my links on this forum...Ive been doing this slowly...I'd rather spend all that time than giving them money....and when IM done im going to record my screen of a video of me deleting my account with them, and it will feel good.

Yeah, I started my download a few months ago and I need to finish it up. I have something like 10k of photos so it is arduous to download picture by picture.

Has anyone used the Imgur app? I am just now returning to the hobby after a very long hiatus, and was using Photobucket before. Not paying them any money. Laptop has not been working good, so have been using my Ipad. Just went to Imgur, and they say they are no longer supporting online logins with mobile devices. Can I still post pictures with the app?
Nevernind. I tried it. Worthless.

I switched from PB to Imgur and love it. I don't post from mobile devices though. Same, I use the website via PC sometimes if I am frustrated with the phone app. That said, I just got a photo to upload via the Imgur app right now, seemed fairly easy (iPhone 8+ running Imgur v8.13). Jordan

Posted a quick acknowledgment on the previous thread.
Now posting on here to get it back to the front.
Did my last working around the watermark but they have now done that in.
Creating a right furore over here on social media.
Guess we will all migrate away from them and where will that leave em?
The life blood of forums is the visual element.
Think they have under estimated the likely reaction to their change in policy.
