1984 carousel Rick Mears issue

I've had an issue with my 84 Mears where the rear of the engine cowling refuses to seat and it pops the whole thing up. Has anyone else had this issue or know of a fix?

The tooling on the Carousel 1 is poor. The nose doesn't line up with the tip of the nose. The upper & lower halves of the chassis doesn't fit properly.

Tyler - Are the magnets still in place? There are two small round magnets at the rear of the engine cover at each end and two on the chassis. I once had one that was missing one of the magnets. If the magnets are there, look for interference at the black snorkel that comes up thru the cover. If this is okay. Take a photo and send it to me. I have had half a dozen of these cars apart and may be able to see what's going on. [e-mail]

I'll take a look and send some pictures when I get home tonight. I know the front has a magnetic connection but I'm not feeling that when I push the rear down.

Here is a photo of the Johncock 84 March. Notice the small round magnets at the rear. (Green Circles)  There will be two more identical magnets in the engine cover directly above these. If by chance these are missing, that is your problem. If so, write Replicarz an email. I have no doubt they will send you replacements.
