I enjoyed the metal kits of the Ferrari 375 Plus and The Alfa P3, so I tried the Monogram metal kit of this car...what a cool little kit!....went online and found one that wasn't British Racing Green... Gar is sending me the decals... Sorry for the poor picture...the engine is highly detailed... I'll detail the car, drivers, and history when the decals are on... Thanks for looking... Tim

In 1950, Jaguar had a three car attempt at LeMans...this is the only one that wasn't British Racing Green...it was called "120" because it could go 120 mph straight off the showroom floor... The cars were modified ( notice the quick fill gas cap and small windscreen)... It was driven by Peter Whitehead and John Marshall to 15th place...they were two gentlemen drivers...the main car was running second for 2 hours, but after 21 hours, and gaining on the leading Talbot, the clutch acted up and they dropped out. Kit has a highly detailed copy of the single overhead cam, straight six... It was so encouraging, that Jaguar would bring back the same cars, heavily modified with new bodies: the "C" type that would win in 1951 and 1953...this would be reworked into the "D" type that would win LeMans in '55, '56' and '57.. Thanks for looking! Tim .I recently read "Touch Wood" by Duncan Hamilton, the 1953 LeMans winner...every type of Jaguar was driven over public roads to race tracks...I would have loved to see and hear these beasts on public streets...

Great looking build, the 50s were certainly a unique era in LeMans before it got so extreme in speeds.

Whenever I see s '50s Jag I think of B.S. Levy's "The Last Open Road". Fun read.
I had a neighbor who was a developer (he built the condo I lived in) and he received a beautiful XK150 Coupe. This was in the '90s. He sold it shortly after. I bet he looks the current value and cringes.
And beautiful model to boot. I've seen those models here and there and always wondered if they could be made into a nice model. Question answered. :-)
