I had originally set this up for the April, deadline of The Build-o-Rama honoring Past Series Champions...since Calvin and Jim did Brack's winner, I decided to try this... When my friend Burd saw this, he said"It looks like a powerboat"...now I know why Calvin likes these: from the side they are Indycars... I'll comment on Greg Ray as this goes on... Suspension and decaling today...thanks for looking! Tim

Texas' own Greg Ray!! Nice choice. Always liked his '98 500 car, too! I remember being there when he won the championship at TMS. 1999 was certainly his banner year.

It's looking spectacular. When I was 24 and found out Greg Ray didn't set foot in a racecar till he was 25, I started planning to do Skip Barber Racing School and see where it would go. But then I met my future wife and Dale Earnhardt got killed. So much for planning.

After the application of 1,000+ decals... I had forgotten how cool these Menard's cars look... On a side note: I clear coated these to make sure they stayed on...the decals are 20 years old...I am sure Tom and Ed have suffered because of the age of these decals...it might be an idea for a decal maker to update these, once he got permission from ARM...the kit is phenomenal but it is also aging... Comments, questions etc. welcome...thanks for looking! Tim

Looking good. Tim. You do need to be careful with those decals.

Time to wrap this baby up... As Mike pointed out, Greg Ray didn't set foot in a race car until he was 25...he quickly made his mark, winning the Formula Atlantic championship in 1993... He moved to Cart team Kool Greene in 1994 for Toyota Atlantic and won that championship also... He was fast in mostly unsponsored cars in 1997 and 1998, but did well enough to earn the Menard's car drive for 1999... At Indy, he qualified second in 1998, 1999, and 2001...he beat JPM to the pole in 2000... However, he wound up poorly in each of those, and his best Indy finish was eighth in 2003...but in 1999, it all came together with wins at Pike's Peak (twice) and Dover...he clinched the championship at the TMS fall race with a third place finish... Comments, questions welcome! Thanks for looking! Tim

Great job, Tim. I think the end result shows very well. You rarely see these Etzel/ARM kits built as Greg's car so that is a nice treat to see a variety of schemes.

Outstanding work Tim. Your paint work is excellent. I supported every Menards race car when I used to work for them, till they fired me.
Also, many thanks again on the Brack replacement decals.
