Yes, the AMT '68 Torino Pace Car kit hits triple figures every time I see one on da bay! I remember a built up going for $100........ And I agree, I'm pretty sure Don does it at Modelhaus. The AMT '69 Torino Cobra kit is cheap and everywhere which works as a donor. (*might* need a set of hub caps ??)

Check with Scale Equipment Ltd. for the Olds. They do a '73 Hurst Olds that's pretty close. In addition, Johan does a promo-based '73 Olds Cutlass in plastic. SEL's is pretty nice, although expensive.

Updated list after seeing a post on another board that Revell plans a late 2009 release of a 1972 Hurst/Olds 442 Cutlass convertible.

Thanks for posting that list..never really knew there were that many options for pace car builds...I have all the "usual" cars from Revell and Amt, etc...so far have built the 1953 Ford from Lindberg and the 1998 Vette from Revell..both were enjoyable kits and smooth builds

Updated since release of Revell's 442 442. I don't have it yet, and it sounds like it might not be 100 percent accurate for a pace car (e.g., I think the grille might be different), but it looks like a good place to start and I'm going to get one. It's probably a case of close enough for me!

AMT did a 1961 T-Bird
And Jo-Han did a 1963 Chrysler
1973 Cadillac and a 1974 Olds
I have seen Pace Cars built from all these kits
Amt also did a 1971 Challenger , all you had to do was change the hood which is made by a couple of aftermarket companies

Nope, it is accurate for a HURST Olds. There were differences, and those are reflected in the kit.

The Revell 72 H/O Is a Correct Pace car as that was also an H/O
I have the Cady decal sheet and it has the H/O logo as well as all the God stripes
Identical to those on the decal sheet in the kit
It can also be built as a correct Cutlass Supreme, but you will need to change
the grill to built it as a 442.

The 70 Olds pace car was a 442/W30.

The only 85 Olds Pace car in 1/25 scale was a Vac U Form by K G models. I haven't seen one for a long time.
I have seen 2 built 1 as a Pace Car and the other 1 as a Pro Stock Drag Car, Both builds were outstanding, with what you had to start with.

Yeah, sorry for any confusion, but this is just a list of available pace car models and decals out there, not available from me. In cases where I just list a decal, that means there either isn't a kit available, or I don't know about it. I was not aware of the Vac U Form kit mentioned by Old Photos, but have added it to the list above.

Hi, I'm looking to buy a 1985 Olds calais pace car model for my collection. The race was run on my son's birthday, May 26, and this is the only car I'm missing. Just found this, due to be released in May. Not a snap kit but Level 2, "reduced parts count for an easier build"
What's interesting is that the 2009 Pace Car was a Camaro. This is billed an an "Indy Parade Car" and it is what the Indy drivers rode in during the 500 Festival Parade that year.

I like that Vette. But will likely avoid it if I read correctly. Vinyl tires "And Seats"
Maybe IF they molded them in Correct color, Or white and included All the
different Color Dyes, I would look at them!!
Maybe see if I can get Just the decal sheet, and a Revell 09 Vette

Very interesting. I missed that on my "sabbatical." I added it to the master list. Not all of those are true pace cars either. See the Stealth in '91.

I haven't been doing very well at keeping this up, so I just added a few items. The most noteworthy IMHO is Revell's announcement of the 1972 Olds due out in October - complete with Linda Vaughn figure!!! <3
