Hi all - I've asked this on another forum and received no help so I thought I'd try here. I have an OLD (slush-cast) resin kit of the Bobby Unser STP Novi by "Garage 97". Just wondered if anyone knows if they did any other kits and if so, what were they. Probably will never get built (by me), needs a lot of TLC and scratch-building to complete but body lines and proportions look pretty good compared to photos. Decals look pretty decent also. TIA for any help - Brian

Garage 97 also did the 1957 Belond Car, it is also "slush" cast.

I know a little about the guys that were, at one time, "Garage 97". They were three guys that wanted to do some Indy Car Model in the 1980's. The did the STP/Ferguson Novi, which I built and have another. The 1957 Belond Exhaust Special and were working on a 1963 Mickey Thompson "Road Roach" when the got into a fight and stop doing things. I have met all three and heard ever side of the story. It was messy, but they did a few nice things.

Thanks for the pic, Russ! That looks great. You did a super job with that box of barely identifiable parts! Resin kits sure have come a long way!

The NOVIs are and have always been my favorite Indy car. I love the Watson roadsters and the Kurtis cars, too. But the NOVIs are the top for me! And I do have one of Lance's repops ordered this time! LOL!! I have to do the '56 car.
Next would DEFINITELY be the Ferguson NOVI 4 wheel drive car. ;D

Russ didn't you say these kits were rough?

Yes, they are a bit on the rough side. All of the suspension components were pretty much unusable but they were all modified Lotus pieces. The instruction sheet stated to use a jelly packet (the kind you get in restuarants) to use as the cockpit....that always cracked me up.

Yeah, Jordan, they were "state-of-the-art" SLUSH-CAST! If any of you don't know what that is, it's a 1-piece mold and you pour in the resin and slosh it around until it sets, usually ending up with wafer-thin bottom edges and a real thick top surface. Never seen a slush-cast piece that was very good, and these were worse than most!
mrindy77 - I forgot about the jelly packet, that was pretty funny!

Need models of the last three versions of the NOVIs. Resin casters out there listening?? (LANCE?? LOL!!) I am VERY GLAD that Lance has re popped the '56-'57 Novi and I have a '56 coming! But that red Unser car is a definite as well as the white one with all the little STP decals around the numbers and of course, thje Ferguson 4 wheel drive. If Bob Clindinst has drawings for that Ferguson, I would do everything I could to master one. I *think* someone here has said they have an old clear plastic slot car body of the Ferguson. ( ) ;D Mongo
