Anyone ever build any sprint car models? I've wanted to for a long time, and over the weekend picked up a Steve Kinser WoO Coors Light sprinter from the '80s at a show. Of course the decals look like crud, and don't match any of the pictures I've uncovered. But all of the Slixx and Sprint Graphix decals I've seen look like they are for newer cars. Anyone have any thoughts?
On a similar note, I've also got one of the Grant King sprint car rereleases that looks like it has just some generic decals. Anyone know if any decals were ever done for a real car? (I think the original kit had Sheldon Kinser?)

I am working on a couple of the Grant King kits, bashing them into the early *cageless* cars. Also, I am waiting on a friend to get some pictures of A.J. Watson's Ford Cammer Sprint car (it is still around) so that I can replicate it as from the race that A.J. Foyt drove it. One of the other kits is getting an Offy. Plus one that is *just* a small block Chevy. Gathering up enough period looking tires is going to be the biggest problem. ;D
The *original* Grant King kit had the #20 that was a real car. I do have a set of those decals I am using.

I worked for Grant from 1974 through 1982. I still have two of the sprint car kits sealed and signed by Grant. Have a couple of the Grant King Racing Team kits too. He was very good to me. He was killed in a street accident about 10 years ago. I miss him!

I've often thought of trying one of the old cageless cars, but the point about the tires has made me a little hesitant.

I have been looking through the street tires, old AMT Indy tire, etc., and it looks like there might be some good prospects. When it comes to that point, I will post what I have. Looks like different sizes of Halibrand wheels where used here and there from the old films.

The Grant King Racing Team kit was a 56 Ford pick Up, a trailer and the Sprint car kit and Grant did have a 56 ford, blue, just like the one on the kit's box art. I think I have two of them, one signed by Grant. May be talked into selling one.
