The apron is the flat portion of the track under the line that Mears is running over, down where Michael Andretti is running. After the 1992 race, the apron was removed as the pit lane exits and entrances were moved to be separate from the regular track surface by grass in the turns. Jordan

I signed it, Jordan. I am not sending them any money, and if I start getting lots of emails, and snail mail, I'm blaming you.

Wasn't the apron removed and the longer merge lane added for safety? To allow the entering cars to get up to speed before hitting the racing surface, and not to enter the track before then. --Frank

How about "petitioning" them to bring back real racecars?
throw in some rumble strips and IMS might go for it, as they would make a killing selling parts :-)

I'd rather they get rid of those obnoxious starter lines on the frontstretch. If they are to use new ones, they ought to make them removable so they don't have to be seen when the oval is in use.

For those that say bring back real race cars I Inspire you to put your entry in and build a 2017 Indy car and go compete. It can not be done and it will never be done again. Safety, regulations and such make it impossible for the days gone by. Plus look at the races and the statistics. The racing right now today is better than it has ever been. There use to be only two or three cars on the lead lap at the end and the margin of victory was over whelming. I will say not a big fan of the new cars but they are different, but you still complain about wanting different cars. Be positive and appreciate what you have. Plus I do like the new design for 2018. It is a sleeker, more sexy race car and a lot lower than today's car. Looking forward to seeing the 2018 up close. I say bring back the apron if you let them use it. If you are going to penalize drivers for using it than do not bring it back.It is pointless to bring back something you cannot use. Thanks for the link, I think it is neat that they are asking for public opinion on this which they would do that with more changes they are doing.
