Here's something different, especially for Calvin: a 2K with a March 82C rear end grafted on! The photo is from Phoenix 1982 and is taken from the excellent Facebook group "1980's Indy Cars". The photographer promises more photos of the car will be uploaded to the group tomorrow.

Very interesting, Calvin and I have been talking about the 1982 season the last few days lol This is certainly a cool variant and goes well with the 82C you were working on last year, Bo. At this could be done in 1/43 someday.... Jordan

Interested. I know for sure it did not race at Phoneix with the March grafted on the rear end. I know for a fact it raced at the Spring Phoenix 100% Chaparral....unless they never ran this grafted up Chaparral/March at Phoenix and left it in the garage.....Im guessing this is actually Atlanta?
I know for a fact the Chaparral raced in Cleveland with this rear end set up. (The last race for the Chaparral 2k) They switched to a March 82c for the Michigan 500 and continued with it for the rest of the season.

Picture shows guys in jackets so I do not think the picture is Riverside but when I searched 1982 CART Atlanta on Youtube my first result was Riverside. Look what I found.... I'm no 2K expert but this looks similar to the picture though I do see different endplates on the rear wing.

Im guessing this is actually Atlanta? You're probably right, Calvin. The photographer, Mike Weber, actually said it was "old Atlanta", but somebody else pointed out that it could be Phoenix. I tend to think that probably the photographer has it right - after all, he was there. For those of you on Facebook there are quite a few interesting groups where people post all manner of great and odd photos of Indy Cars. Bo

And reschedule for the first weekend in May....Jim Hall decided to skip it and focus on Indy as did other teams....NBC didn't come back a week later and Rick Mears ran away and won. By Riverside Team Chaparral was using the March 82c. I've been trying to get this person with this upload to let me borrow the orginal vhs copy of this race. Because we've been looking for a complete copy of it. If we can get it, we will have a complete 1982 CART season of televised races on video (Atlanta and Road America were not televised just little news clip at the end of this Riverside upload of RA )

By Riverside Team Chaparral was using the March 82c. I see that now. I did not realize how similar the mid-chassis sections of these cars were. Jordan

The years finally caught up with the 2K. Sadly, sometimes you can't teach an old dog new tricks. It was sure something while it lasted.

That first photo looks like one of those trailers that the hot rod guys use to haul beer to their events behind their "rods". All that tubing would lead me to believe it was draft beer in the trailer... --Frank

The photographer has posted a few more Chaparral photos from Atlanta 82 on the Facebook-page "1980's Indy Cars". Most show the 2K in standard trim, but there was also this one of the car with a different rear end treatment: (Photo: Mike Weber) On a different note: does anybody know why Chaparral changed the height of the engine cover for the 1982 season? Bo

I always wondered the same thing with the engine cover on the 1982 version of the chaparral 2k.
interesting picture..... it's actually Milwaukee, for the Gould Rex Mays 150 because there is a section of the Milwaukee pit wall that is low like that and the asphalt is light and the double lines by the pit wall gives it away....and also Rutherford started on the outside of row 3 and if you notice Tom Sneva is behind in outside of row 4
