Great work Art! This is not a kit that I have or want, but I'm gathering a lot of good tips. Something that I've been struggling to get right is a seat similar to yours. What type of material were you adding? A workable putty?

I was using Milliput. it's pretty handy, but I just couldn't make it work in this application. I got it at Hobby Lobby, but it's pretty widely available. Thanks for looking!

I'm very familiar with Milliput. I've had a love hate relationship with it for years. In my experience the stuff works best when it's fresh, but finding it really fresh in the USA has been tough for me. Recently I picked up some J-B Weld WaterWeld Epoxy putty. Instructions say it sets up in 25 minutes and cures in an hour. Hope to try it soon. Paul Erlendson

I used to use Milliput but Lance encouraged me to use Apoxie Sculpt......all I can say is THANK YOU LANCE!....Was cheaper and way better IMO....Milliput goes bad in the box and is SOOOOO MUCH more expensive. I HIGHLY recommend Apoxie Sculpt. www.amazon.com/Apoxie-Sculpt-1-Lb-White/dp/B0013UDWXI

Paul Erlendson Paul- Last week I went to use my Milliput, but it had stiffened up to the point of being unusable (to be fair it was about two years old). I bought some JB WaterWeld (Home Depot) and it worked really well, easy to shape (with a damp spatula) and sand, drying time about as stated. Sandy

I broke off the milliput discussion from Art's build. A good discussion, just did not want to derail the build thread.
I have the most experience with Milliput out of the materials mentioned so far. I really had bad experiences with it not setting up, and having it gum up my sanding material several days later. Bought Apoxie Sculpt a while back but have not used it yet. Looking forward to it though.

I have used all 3 products, and won't use Milliput again, ever. I have no problem with any member talking about their experience with a product, as long as it's a polite discussion, and no name calling.

I have used a lot of milliput (superfine) over 20+ years and only had problems a few times, a few times it would not set up and the last time it was dried up when I opened it. Figure sculptors originally liked A&B epoxy putty and Magic Sculpt (still my favorite but hard to find). Apoxie Sculpt seems to be the most popular now and I do use a lot of it, there are some others I have seen on figure sculpting sites but have not tried them as I like what I am using now.

I've used milliput for years. I keep it wrapped up in separate baggies and have never had an issue with it other than it takes a long time to harden. I usually will not start sanding on it until an overnight cure.
