Guys
Given the wealth of knowledge I have seen demonstrated on this forum I thought I would ask.
Danny Sullivan won the 1986 Meadowlands GP from what I can tell, and he did it in his Penske March 86C Miller sponsored car but I have only just discovered it was not the regular red gold and white car, but a YELLOW liveried car. I have an old 1/43rd March 86C sitting here and its begging to be made up.
Does anyone have any pics of this particular car because internet searches on google give me nothing and all I have to go with is a grainy youtube vid of the event.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

LOL
Does this help......
Mate. Really appreciate the time and trouble you went to.
All I had was a dodgy messed up vid from youtube with Brazilian commentary.
Did you do vid screen grabs or was this simply pause and print screen? I did try that but uurrghhh. Not good. Not like these.
Thank you. If I can work out how to post pics again (photobucket seems to be having fun messing me about at the mo) I will get the eventual finished jobby on here.

Danny wreck his primary or something? Very interesting to see him in the Pennzoil paintjob!

It looks like the Meadowlands was two weeks after Portland, which was the race where Danny crashed with Michael Andretti. Still it seems un-Penske-like to need two weeks to prepare a car and not repaint it.

I asked Chuck Sprague about it and it sounds like they may have still been trying to work with the Penske Chassis and opted to go with this car instead. Thinks it may be the 87 Indy winning car.

While I don't have any pictures to help out I do have some history on the car that won at the 1986 Meadowlands. I did a little story on this car some time ago. Here is the link. mb2501.proboards.com/thread/3442/penske-march-86c-chassis-22. From what I know this was a car hastily readied for the race. Penske was trying to develop the PC-15 chassis at the time and was not having a good time of it, relying on the March 86c, when the qualifying results were not favorable. It seems Penske would switch his top drivers Mears or Sullivan to the March and leave the development of the PC-15 up to Unser, Sr. It would seem that since the PC-15 was uncompetitive in qualifying for the Meadowlands race, the 86 Marches were hastily prepared. Thus Sullivan's car is presented in Pennzoil colors with Miller American markings for the Meadowlands race. Jim

AFAIK (& I do not know all) there is nothing between the PC9B (Lance) and the PC17 (AMT). I think Lance was eventually wanting to do the PC10. It would be great to get any/all of the missing PCs.

Call this one my Forum build.
Parallel build to the 85C job.
Not finished coz the kit comes with a blue windscreen. HIFI Automedelli job I have sat on for years. Nose aint right. More like a Penske PC16 (hang on. That's an idea......) but enuf to show ya. Gonna have to cut my own screen after the WEC Sebring race...
Thanks to Chaparral2K for the images. Indycals for the decals. (Yeah, I only did a couple of em). Illeagle10 so I can explain why I have a 'Mears' car in my Sullivan collection. Various posts on the forum about using Tamiya 16 and Tamiya Clear Crystal. And all the other hints and tips I read about on here.
Think I got the décor right. Might do one in 25th one day.
The 85C is progressing slowly but when done I will need someone to finally produce a T800 so I can complete the Sullivan one off colour scheme selection (Indy 84).
Apologies for pic quality. Used the mobil. Not all that.

Chaps
One last question if I may.
Has anyone ever built an MA Models March 86C? Believe they produce the Rahal version. It looks better than the HI FI kit.

I have built several cars from MA Models. Requires work but his later versions are better than earlier ones.

Ampersand and SMTS have done March 86Cs. I would recommend either of them over MA or Hi Fi.
Bo from Ampersand is a member here and have walked around the vintage cars at the 500 with him the last few years. Last year he was taking measurements of various cars to make sure his masters are as accurate as possible.

I think most board members are familiar with my view on the products and business ethics of MA Models, so I won’t go in to that discussion again apart from stating that the ORIGINAL Ampersand March 86C is still available from me, the ORIGINAL manufacturer. It is white metal and is in my humble opinion a far superior product to the MA Models offering. And it is cheaper, too!

BO
PM sent.
I had no idea about the issues here.
It simply came down to availability from doing some quick internet searches.
You chaps probably know about me having been a full time illustrator in my time and I too had a couple of pieces copied and used as work by other individuals. Not on really so understand the dynamics here.
Glad you chimed in when you did.

Jordan Great job on the Sullivan 86C!!! I cannot state more how much I would love to see the PC10 made! I believe it would be in high demand if made. There are a few popular liveries the decal makers could produce also. Gould, Norton, Machinists to name a few. Sorry for the minor hijack....lol.
