Oh Boy Oh Boy Oh Boy.
Can't quite believe I have pulled this off but managed to swap set annual leave block so...
....I am off to the Grand Prix at Austin later this year.
Done Daytona a few times and loved it.
If any of you have any advice on where to spectate at the track, where to go in town, where to stay or not, then do let me know.
If any of you are going then lemme know too.

Congratulations! I have sat in turn 12 grandstand twice, and I think it is a great place to sit. It is at the end of the longest straight, so the most passes happen there. You can also see turn one and several corners on the other side of the track. You want to get seats as high up as you can.

Well. The main theme here seems to be its gonna cost some, but then that is nothing new at a GP.....
Cheers fellas.

OLD post and a couple of weeks since but I am back home in blighty from my visit to Texas and loved it.
GP was good fun. Took the advise and sat in the stand at 12 as well as most other corners through the weekend. Was smart about the money until Mrs looked longingly at a soon to be out of date Waffle Vandoorne T=shirt. Bloody Belgians. 60 bucks. Ouch.
She got a bit mauled in the mosch pit that was the autograph sessions but came away with a few scribbles.
But the Historics. Oh my. Went down every day to give the Lotus 78 a cuddle, one day resplendent in my dodgy old JPS team Lotus T shirt which raised a chuckle.
All that aside I was gutted there were no independent traders there with the memorabilia and models you find elsewhere such as at Daytona. Not even outside the circuit like at Silverstone.
I know there were gripes about transportation and the like but I had a trouble free weekend apart from having to suffer the Justin Timberlake gig for a while....
Shoulda found out if any of you lads were going before I went.
Visited San Antonio, Houston (well done Astros), and Galveston afterwards. Evidence of what everyone went through still around but amazed at the resilience and the good nature and hard work going forwards.
All in all it was fun but just could not find the time to get up to Dallas for more racing. Shoulda tried to find out about any local small oval or dirt track stuff for the weekends after.......
