I was shocked to read in today's newspaper that Helio Castroneves was arrested and released on $10 million bail on federal tax evasion charges. Helio plead not guilty. Also indicted were his sister and his attorney. Equally shocking was when the story reported he made his court appearance "shackled in handcuffs and leg chains and visibly weeping..." Good Grief, handcuffs and leg chains on a 5'4'' accused tax evader? That's a bit too much! Had anyone in the group heard any rumblings that this was coming? It was news to me. I really hope this is resolved in his favor when he has his day in court. Sandy

Heard it on another message board yesterday. Accused of hiding a lot of his race winnings off-shore.

I like Helio - he's really the guy I have rooted for the most since Greg Moore died. I would hope he is not guilty. I will grant you that prosecutors don't go around pressing charges for no reason but at the same time I know that everyone who is taken to trial is not necessarily guilty.
Anyways, love him or hate him - he is still innocent until proven guilty in the good ol' US of A. At least this board hasn't convicted him already like some others.
