It's got fenders, but it has a Formula 1 engine in it...the 4.5 liter v12 that powered Ferrari's first F1 winner was lost In the shuffle when everybody decided to go the formula 2 route for 1952-1953...So Ferrari enlarged it to 4.9 liter size and went endurance racing...this car would capture the WEC in 1954, winning both the Carrera Panamericana and LeMans...as it appeared rolling out of Modena... This is a K & R Replicas metal kit, purchased about 15 years ago...I was scared of metal kits until Jaunjo Mas did his SEFinecast Indy Delage...since then, I have done the Alfa P3 and now this... I am now in the decaling stage...the grill and wheels are photo etch... Questions, comments welcome...more to come... Tim

I saw one built at the NNL/West. A nicer looking kit than my slot car body conversion! Once the Esquadron decals get put on it will look killer!

November 19, 1954....Maglioli rolls out of the garage to start the Fifth Carrera Panamericana... 1,910 miles and five days later, he crosses the finish line 24 minutes in front of the second place Hill/Gunther Ferrari... It is the last race over open Mexican roads...it was dangerous as hell, and disrupted the country's main transportation link for a week, because whole chunks of highway were shut down as the race roared through... This car had already clinched the Endurance Championship for 1954...this win just sweetened it... Thanks for looking! Comments, questions welcome! Tim

Looks great, Tim. I like Ferraris and I like #19s so this one is twice as nice. It really shines in the daylight!!
The history lesson is interesting, too, always nice to put some context on the build.
