I am working on a 1/43rd scale 1990 Lola T-9000 and would like to evolve the model into the 1991 and 1992 cars, as it seems to me that the differences between the 1990 car and the cars of 1991 and 1992 are not that great. Indeed, careful comparison of cars from the different years really doesn't seem to reveal any visible differences, but I would be surprised if Lola didn't tweak the car a little bit from year to year. Does anybody know if there are any differences that should be incorporated into a correct model? The engine cover profile is different depending on which engine the cars has, but that is the same from year to year and not dependent on the vintage, it seems. Any input will be highly appreciated!
Bo

I worked on all three cars in real life. While they have similarities and look the same at a glance, all are completely different animals. Parts and bodywork were not interchanagable, so you are looking at three projects.

Parts and bodywork were not interchanagable, so you are looking at three projects. That's very interesting, thanks! I'll start with the 1990 car, and then we'll see if it can be modified to the other two years' cars. I know that some body panels were shaped differently, i.e. the model would need different engraving of shut lines etc., but it seems to me the basic shapes and dimensions are about the same. Any chance anybody out there has any scale drawings of any of the cars? Bo

Sorry if you do not want to chase this rabbit, Bo. But is your 1992 Lola going to focus on the Chevy and Buick cars? What were the differences in the 1992 Lolas for Ford-Cosworth's vs other engines? To me the Lola/Ford with the smaller engine cover and different rollbar looked a different chassis to the Chevy and Buick powered Lolas. To my eye, the '92 Chevy/Buick Lolas looked like the '91 Lolas and the '92 Ford Lolas looked like the '93 Lolas. 1992 Lola Ford-Cosworth 1992 Lola Chevy A Jordan

Hi Bo. Nice idea. Someone tried a similar thing.... mb2501.proboards.com/thread/6235/lola-t90-t91-all-purposehehe. I suggest you to have a look, guys gave some valuable input. I came to a similar conclusion: basicly 90-92 (excluding late Ford powered casr) had a quite similar overall shape and size, though some panel lines varied. If you think of a multi use master (to make resin copis for instance) you can engrave both and then covers the one you don't want in a particular model. I remember nose line (where the chasis ends) varied, also windshield, where it meets bodywork, also the bulges of sidepods.
