This is one of the 1/43rd scale kits I got from Joe today! Its been a very long time since I've seen a 1/43rd in a while, and YES! Its Small!!!! This is my very first time attempting to build a 1/43rd....I've always wanted to try one, just to say, yes! I've built one. So in my very first attempt at 1/43rd Im doing a WIP....I have no idea what Im doing...whatever happens is going to be interesting. Im looking forward to the new challenge. Im basically building as much as I can before painting. Im using mostly CA glue. Im going to use Tamiya Metal Primer (The clear stuff) then Tamiya White primer.

Remember the golden rule of building 1/43 scale kits- test fit, Test Fit, TEST FIT. Looks like it will be a fun kit.

Looks like a good start. I remember that GP, I was rooting for JV all the way. Was so sad when he lost the race after dominating much of the day. Certainly a very strong debut!
I will be watching this one pretty closely.

Really hope you enjoy the build. They are difficult to put together on some levels but so rewarding when you put your skills to work.
Looking forward to seeing this one built, BBR made some pretty good kits as I recall.
Good luck with it.

Use a 3M green pad as part of your body prep. They really work nicely.

Looks like a good start. I remember that GP, I was rooting for JV all the way. Was so sad when he lost the race after dominating much of the day. Certainly a very strong debut! I will be watching this one pretty closely. Jordan He definitely made the Indycar guys look good that day, beforehand they kinda joked about the Indyboys.... Really hope you enjoy the build. Good luck with it. So far Im having fun! Im enjoying the new challenge.....it make you think in a little different way. I dont know anything about the different brands of 1/43ed kits, but Im liking what I see with this BBR Metal kit.....they seem to keep the builder in mind on how they wrote the instructions and designed it... Use a 3M green pad as part of your body prep. They really work nicely. Paul Erlendson Yep! Totally! I have lots of Green 3M pads. Have fun with this build. You might even get hooked on this scale I'm already enjoying it....I better enjoy it, I have 3 others to build!

Using thin CA Glue I got the front and rear wings built....VERY tedious! Being so small. Took about 3 hours to get them perfect!

Calvin! So good to see you posting builds. Looks like you have some graining, especially on the left rear. Maybe if you soften the spring on that corner it may help. Or take it easy for a couple of laps it may clear up.

Or take it easy for a couple of laps it may clear up. Yeah, its not handling that well! But seriously, I haven't figured out how to sand down the tires without that famous rubber graining? These tires are a little on the gummy side and hard to avoid that rubber gumming up. and of course, it look worse on a smaller scale than it would on a 1/25

Have you ever had a day where you used most of your model building time looking down at the carpet searching for microscopic P/E parts?? #carpetmonster

Sorry for the struggles, Calvin. Pantyhose or similar material over a vacuum cleaner hose is supposed to help pick out pieces from the carpet. Of course, you might need to clean a large area, we know how parts like to shoot off far in random directions. I told my son about the carpet monster during one of our builds and now he talks about it whenever someone drops anything on the floor. lol Jordan

LOL Macy's? .....I'd be like, um, I need some pantyhose, so I can put on my vacuum, so I can find brassy P/E parts hidden in my carpet. I told my son about the carpet monster during one of our builds and now he talks about it whenever someone drops anything on the floor. lol Jordan Smart boy!!!!

I'm sure any thin mesh or cloth would work - old t-shirt maybe?

Currently getting the front suspension and hubs assembled I used the clear METAL Tamiya Primer and then used Tamiya White primer to find all the metal pin holes!

Having built 1/43 scale models for the past 25+ years I have found that soldering wing plates is very effective and much more durable. 'Tin' the attachment points with solder an simply heat the area with the soldering iron to 'weld' the joints together. It proves to make a much more durable piece when it comes time for painting and polishing and handling. Nothing will be more frustrating than having the wing fall apart after it painted and decaled.

Considering the magnification, this is looking impressive. I forgot that this car was painted mostly blue because the decals really cover well.
